I've looked in my block drop down and cannot find it. Any clues?
In respect to the "Forward to a Friend" action block, this feature is only available within our old Legacy templates. The steps listed above in the thread are applicable only to the Legacy templates. At this time, this functionality is not available within our new Third Generation editor. If you would like to see a similar feature implemented, please comment or kudo this post on our Feedback board.
Below is information pulled in from our Feedback board:
[The feature was removed] due to lack of usage in our previous editor (both our users inserting this link, and recipients using this link) and we decided not to implement the feature. We also wanted to solve for cases where this feature was used as a workaround (such as getting around possible display issues), with other features or improvements to the editor. We want to focus on the latest and greatest features that will bring as much value as possible to our users. While I can understand that some users found this feature valuable, our plan is not to rebuild the second-generation editor, but rather to learn from its mistakes/successes to create a new, best-in-class editor.
To address some of the concerns around the lack of this feature:
- Display concerns: some folks like the peace of mind knowing that users can see a “clean-copy” of their email. As a work-around for this, I would recommend including a “View as Webpage” link. This will link to the web version of your email without any potential display issues, and it will not have any personal information of the original recipient.
- Referrals and new signups: we recommend including a link to a lead generation landing page within emails that you’re hoping will be referred along. If you wish to have your contacts share your email on their social media pages, you can include a Social Share bar in your email that allows your contacts to easily make this happen.
Hello @SistersofDivineProvidence,
Thank you for reaching out to the community!
The Forward to a Friend button will be located on the left side of your email while editing a block. Be sure that you are actively editing one of the blocks in your email and you will see an Insert menu outside the body of your email located to the left. I hope that this helps!
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
We're out of luck. The answer above isn't right. Here's another answer:
That feature is currently only available in our Legacy templates. I've added you to the feature request, to have that brought into our newer Third Generation editor as well! If you do have access to Legacy templates, the option should appear when you have any block open, in the 'insert' section along the left side of the page.

It's now been over 2 years and CUSTOMERS are still asking for the FORWARD TO A FRIEND block be add to the Third Generation editor. Is it really that hard to add????
How many clients have to ask for this for it to be added back? We use this tool within our company only for employees, with no real social media platform for it to be shared on to build our subscriptions. Without this function we are limited on how we promote our emails and subscriptions. I've seen numerous requests online for it to be added back and that each request is "shared with the developers" as far back as 2016, but the function still isn't there.
I would like this feature added back in as well, please. I want my subscribers to be able to forward the email to a friend. Thanks!
We really need this feature!
Referrals from friends/family are consumer friendly. They're not cold, uninvited calls.
When will this feature be added?
Thanks!
Janet
Please add 'Forward to a friend.'
Please add this feature back.
Still waiting...over 2 years!!!!! I know Constant contact knows what happens to forwarded constant contact emails, they look like CRAP. Social share is NOT enough!
Please add the Forward to a Friend please!?!?
Please add Forward to a Friend. You are behind your competitors on this and a number of other features I lost when I switched to Constant Contact. Overall I'm happy with CC, but it's hard to do without these features. Please put this one back.
Shocked thus block is not available.
My boss literally asked for this just this morning. I had to tell her it wasn't available any longer. It's not the answer she wanted to hear... Please add the "forward to a friend" feature back!
Hello @Francis ,
I agree the forward to a friend feature is extremely useful! We have added the feature within the Cross Device Editor. I popped into your account, selected a Cross Device template and created an example for you to check named, "Example/Forward to a Friend". The Forward to Friend button is at the bottom but you can drag to a different location within the content of your campaign.
The Cross Device Editor (CPE) does offer many of the same features as the current Third Generation Editor (3GE) but it also includes new features as well.
Be sure to start with a template that uses the CPE experience. Here's how!
Then within the Cross Device Editor template, here is how I was able to add the Forward to a Friend button.
As far as the Forward to a Friend being offered in the 3GE that still is not available.
Really need this feature. Another provider has it...

Really would like to see the forward to a friend block added back....we have folks that forward their own emails only to have their email address unsubscribed unintentionally...painful process to get them back into the address book. Help, please.
Like everyone else I would like to have the forward to a friend button for email. I am considering leaving this platform for one that has it. This cross device thing isn't the solution unless it includes email forwarding options.--pat
