sudden increase in unsubscribers

In the last couple months, our reports are showing a huge number of unsubscribes (several hundred) when usually we have 50 or 60 or less, roughly. I know that we do remove subscribers when their emails have bounced a number of times and we are unable to reach them, and in some months this can be a large number, but this has not happened recently. Also it appears that CC is distinguishing unsubs by contact from those removed by us. And looking through the unsubs from the emails sent during the month there are nowhere the number being reported in the Reports tab.

So I'm wondering where these subscribers are going to unsubscribe if they are not doing it from a specific mailing. And is it possible that those numbers are not a "unique" count? Like if a subscriber clicks the unsub link from more than one campaign do they count as 1, or 2?

This does seem to be something that started happening in the past few months--has there been some change in how this information is calculated?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! If a person unsubscribes from a newsletter, they are only counted as one unsubscribe. They will only be counted again if they resubscribe and unsubscribe a second time. If you take a look at the unsubscribed history for the contacts, you will be able to see which mailing they specifically unsubscribed with.
