Hi @CraigG853
I apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused from Google Analytics not being an available feature. I would be happy to share some basic instructions for our workaround. We suggest using Google's Campaign URL builder to create these Google Analytics links outside of your Constant Contact account. Once you have these links they can then be inserted into your email as regular links.
However I do want to mention at this time, because we do not support this integration we cannot provide any documentation of these clicks.

Hello @RubenJ5,
Thank you for reaching out to the community!
The best way to use Google Analytics with Constant Contact is to create URLs using the Google Analytics URL Builder. This will allow you to track your web links using Google Analytics. I hope this helps!
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
Can you confirm there used to a place in Constant Contact where we could give a name to the campaign for Google Analytics, and this is no longer supported in the new templates? I checked and it still exists in the grandfathered template.
Hi @owenl00
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We can confirm at this time the ability to add google analytics tags is not currently available in the newest Third Generation Editor. The workaround mentioned previously in this thread creating URLs using a Google Analytics URL Builder is what we suggest in the meantime. This will allow you to track your web links using Google Analytics. We have also submitted your feedback on having a feature like this in the meantime.
Surprised that you guys wouldn't see this as vital to the roll out of this generation of the platform given that measurement is paramount in this day and age, especially within the space you serve- marketing.
Have to be honest, you guys are starting to be increasingly frustrating and other platforms allow for much more.... catch up or get left behind.
So your advice to use Google URL builder is great. But, you give absolutely no instruction as to how to use this in practice. Please provide instructions on your suggested GA integration. What I want to know is how many people go onto our site from the email. I am not interested in having each link within the email tracked. I just want an over arching number.

That's really not good! We should be able to just link our google analytics account / code, whatever to any email with a click of a button! Please change this. I just changed to you from another provider who I thought was far not keeping up with the times, but even they have that feature. :-(
I'm in the same boat. I was just encouraged, by a Constant Contact rep. to start using the new editor, but we've lost tracking in Google Analytics? That is a huge step backwards. When will this be fixed? Not sure how your development team had this worked out in the last editor, but it didn't carry through to the new one.
Tracking is important to me and my company. Does Constant Contact recommend that I revert back to the old editor?
Hi @WTAemail
Thank you for sharing your feedback on this feature here in the Community. We have tracked it in your account and submitted it to the appropriate teams. In the meantime, you do have the option of copying any previous emails made in our Second Generation Editor to have access to this feature. Though it is important to note at this time we are not making any updates to this Second Generation Editor.
You say you don't support the integration then why do event's allow me to enter my analytics code?
Hello @DavidM2130 You would be correct!
To give more background information on why this is still available in our Events campaigns: Long ago when we had offered this integration, this was when we first introduced our Events campaigns product. Because we still offered Google Analytics at the time, we built it into our Events Campaigns product. Since then we have discontinued supporting the integration, but have left it in our events product to help see where the traffic to your event landing page is coming from, so you know where to spend your marketing time and effort, learn if and where prospects are falling out of your registration process, and collect geographical data on where your registrants are coming from.
There are many great benefits to Google Analytics, and we hope you utilize this feature for your upcoming event! I will certainly share your feedback on including it again for email campaigns.
Google Campaign URL builder isn't going to solve the problem of tracking email signups in Google Analytics, so you can see how organic, paid, and other marketing channels are contributing to your email signups (set up as a conversion in Google Analytics).
How does that work when you are using the shopify product integration and you can't add links to the products? We are just not supposed to track that? This is crazy that we can't do this.
I use campaign links but noticed they don't track together. For example, I have 9 clicks in Constant Contact for a campaign link but zero in Constant Contact for that link. Other times the campaign does show up in google analytics, but the numbers are still lower.
Is there any information I could use to explain why Constant Contact click-throughs might not match Google Analytics? Are there any resources to help trouble shoot these discrepancies? Thanks!
Hi @HeidiH553
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I understand the importance of your email campaign reflecting the correct reporting. Where exactly are you not seeing these clicks? Are there clicks in Google Analytics and not in the Constant Contact reporting, or vice versa? Please send us this clarification along with your campaign name, the URL in question and where it's located in the campaign to social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com. Once we receive these details we can troubleshoot further!
How do you add Google Analytics to a Constant Contact campaign? It is not clear to me how to do this. We just migrated a 60,000 contact account from Informz to Constant Contact and having Google Analytics for email campaigns is a very important feature for our client.
Hi @KenCountess
That's a great question! I can understand how important it is to include these Google Analytic links in your email campaign. At this time, being able to include these analytic links directly in our editor is not a feature that is currently available. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is however a feature request our Product Team is collecting feedback on. In the meantime we suggest using Google's Campaign URL builder to create Analytics links outside of the account, and then insert them as regular links.
Hello,
We have noticed in Google Analytics that we are not seeing the click through's from the links in our email campaigns to our site. We can see all other referrals from Facebook, Google search and other sites, just not seeing them from Constant Contact. Is there a proper way to achieve this so we can better track our campaigns?
Thank you
Ron
I apologize you are having this experience with your tracking! I do however want to point out at this time our system does not currently support Google Analytics. Being to include Google Analytics on an email is a feature request we are collecting feedback on. Because of this I have tracked this feedback in your account and submitted this feature request to the appropriate teams. As workaround we suggest creating a Google Analytics links outside of the account through Google's Campaign URL builder, and inserting them as regular links.
I have found that my email clicks are showing up in Google Analytics as Direct traffic. I can tell because of the specific items that I have in the emails correspond to the # on clicks at that period of time in GA. Hope that helps. Very disappointed in this set back as we have been using Constant Contact for 10 years. Seems like it's being "dumbed down" for new users instead of helping us continue to grow. It's not like the cost shouldn't allow for more advanced features.
Is there any update on adding Google Analytics integration? I agree with the other folks on this thread. It is pretty surprising and disappointing that Constant Contact does not seem to support this feature. It has been a year since the team has noted they were "collecting feedback" - will GA integration be coming soon?
