Access issues with https://api.constantcontact.com/ws/customers/

I start at http://developer.constantcontact.com/ and click the "Getting Started" link. From there, I scroll down to the, "What do you need to know to get started?" section which reads:

______________________________________________________

The API Key is used as part of every request to ensure that a valid application is making the request.  It is combined with the Username of the account that is making the request in the following format:

                {API_Key}%{Username}

You can try to access your own account in this way by opening up a web browser and using the following URI.  Simply enter your Username in the format above and your Constant Contact Password.

Note: Remember to replace anything in curly brackets {} with your personal information!

               https://api.constantcontact.com/ws/customers/{Username}/

______________________________________________________

But when I do that (supplanting my real username in place of {Username} of course) I get "Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at api.constantcontact.com." (The message text varies when trying with different browsers, but they all fail.) I gather from others that ConstactContact's documentation is pitiful, but that seems like a particularly simple thing to explain and get right. What's missing?

Problem solved. The problem was that Safari (at least on a Mac) couldn't display what was being returned from CC upon successful authentication. By the time I tried it in other browsers, there had been so many failed attempts that I'm assuming the account was locked out. Tried again the following morning (using FF) and all seems OK.
