C# Generation of APIKEY

We are using the Version 1 API wrapper for C#. Please explain how I may obtain an apikey (aka api token) for our site.

Re: C# Generation of APIKEY

Hello Michael,

you can generate API keys for use with V1 API here using your Constant Contact username and password. If you expect that you will need to send email campaigns through your integration, you will want to send us an email to webservices@constantcontact.com with your username and API key so that we can enable access to the scheduling functions.

Re: C# Generation of APIKEY

I apologize Elijah for not understanding your reply. I wish to use version 1 APIs and I need to supply an API token. Are you saying that the token can consist of my id and password? Otherwise can you explain how to generate this token for future use. Thanks again.

Re: C# Generation of APIKEY

Hello,

You absolutely can work with V1 APIs. To do that, you will need an V1 API key which can be generated at this link if you do not have one yet:

http://community.constantcontact.com/t5/Documentation/API-Keys/ba-p/25015

In addition, you will need to provide some form of authentication. This can be basic authentication using the username and password, or OAuth2 with an access token.

You can find information about both below:

Basic Authentication - http://community.constantcontact.com/t5/Documentation/Basic-Authentication-Over-HTTPs/ba-p/25075

OAuth2 Example(This uses PHP, but the token generated by this example can be used with any application that uses the same API key.) - https://github.com/shannon7wallace/OAuth-2-PHP-Example

If I am still missing some of the information that you need, please let me know and I will be happy to provide it!

Sincerely,

Elijah G.

Re: C# Generation of APIKEY

Glad you were able to get what you needed.  I do want to make sure we mention that the v1 API is no longer being updated with new functionality at this point and is only in a maintenance status.  We are planning to depricate and sunset that version and will be communicating about that plan and the timeline later this year.  Our recommendation is that for all new integrations you use the v2 API which will have a much longer lifespan at this point in time than the v1 API.
