Use API to send out email notifications in real time?

My web server is having trouble sending out email notifications (or rather, my recipients don't always receive them).

What I need to do is send out email notifications every time my website receives a new application in real time.

I was wondering if the Constant Contact API can be used to do this for me?

Please let me know if this is possible.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can certainly use our API to send out emails.  When a new subscriber is added to an account in Constant Contact with the action by visitor or contact, it triggers a welcome email.  That welcome email is sent out pretty instantaneously.  If you schedule a normal scheduled email through our service, there would be about a 15 minute wait between scheduling the email and it being sent.

Hi, thanks for the response.

Something I forgot to mention is that the message would be dynamic. I send out applicant information in every email (in HTML format), so the content of each email notification will be unique.

Would I have control of the email template for every email notification? The 15 minute lag is fine.

Yes, you would be providing the HTML code for the email yourself, so you would have complete control.  If you create a list for each contact and send out indovidual emails this way, be sure to include code that either clears and re-uses the contact list, or deletes contact lists after the email is sent.  Having a huge number of lists in an account can slow it down when logging in.
