Preview of different Email Clients

What I see in the preview and what the email looks like when received looks quite a bit different as far as the looks go in Yahoo and Hotmail.

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately this is a common problem with all email services. Every client reads emails a little differently so we highly suggest testing the email out in multiple locations before sending.

Can you tell me the name of the email and more about what is happening in Yahoo and Hotmail so I can take a look?

Cool Stuff for Hot Weather - main list is the email.

The styling is off so things like the text and the background don't look the same on the Hotmail and Yahoo.

Hotmail and Yahoo are some of the biggest out there.

I didn't have this problem when we used Cakemail and there is only so many hours in a day to reconfigure this stuff.

 Hi Tim,

Thank you for the helpful information. Here is how hotmail and yahoo both decide to read HTML. Yahoo will only read standard HTML correctly, and does not support anchor links on all browsers, and will clip long newsletters. Hotmail will read only standard HTML, and you must use inline styling and will disable background images (you must turn authentication on in your account for this not to be an issue), it does have some CSS issues, and text may appear to be underlined. Click here to read our post on Constant Contact Authentication.

According to that issue guide Yahoo doesn't allow anchor text.  I use Yahoo mail with IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari and I have never had the linking issue mentioned on this guide.  Is this stuff made up or did someone do testing?

Also why does the same newsletter work with other email senders, but not Constant Contact?  If it was Yahoo and Hotmails fault then we would see this problem across every email sender.
