sharing on social

I need a button where someone can share what I've emailed them on social media. I also need an option that this will post automatically to Facebook / Twitter. I'm new to CC, are there ways to do this?

Re: sharing on social

Hi @Maryd5929

Those are great questions, and I'm happy to help explain what you can do with social sharing. Once you have an email that is scheduled to send (or that you've just sent) you can use the Social Sharing tool to publish your campaign to your social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can view a video tutorial here and there's a link under the video to an article in case you'd prefer to read that. At this time there isn't a way to enable your subscribers to share the campaign to their social media sites through the campaign itself, but that is something we've been hearing feedback about. I've noted in your account that that feature would be beneficial for you. If that feature becomes available we'll post about it in the community to let our users know. Thanks!

Re: sharing on social

Hi there Natalie_B.  ... My issue is with your statement "At this time there isn't a way to enable your subscribers to share the campaign to their social media sites through the campaign itself, but that is something we've been hearing feedback about."  In the old days before CC redesigned, we could allow subscribers to share the email to their personal Facebook accounts.  In fact, since the redesign and changes from the old format, our campaigns have not included those "share to my personal facebook" buttons.  Here's the kicker: MY BOSS is telling me that he wants those sharing options returned to our campaign emails.  I need your help and advice please.

Re: sharing on social

Hello @ODWC. Our newer third-generation editor does not have the ability to include these share options that you are looking for. However, I do see that you are using our second-generation editor to create your campaigns and that editor does have the ability to let your contacts share your campaign on their social media pages. You can find how to insert this feature here

Re: sharing on social

Thank you for the reply Caitlin. But if I go back to using second-generation templates, doesn't that mean I will lose the "mobile-friendly" version? If so, then it seem what I'm hearing from CC is that I must choose to either 1) send out mobile-friendly emails without reader share options, OR 2) keep the "share to social" bar in the header without a mobile-friendly option. ???

If this is the case, I've lost a valued element that always appeared in my older emails, but cannot appear in "third generation" emails ???

Re: sharing on social

Hi @ODWC. There are many templates available in our second-generation editor that are mobile-responsive and will display correctly on a mobile device. When you are choosing a template, you will see a mobile phone icon next to the names of the templates that are mobile responsive as shown in the image below:

Re: sharing on social

Can you instruct me how to return to the Generation 2 editor? I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I'm still seeing the Gen 3 templates

Hello @ODWC,

I'm sorry for any confusion. If you could email us at social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com with your username and a reference to this post, we will take a closer look. We want to make sure we're all looking at the same account before we make any changes.

Re: sharing on social

My organization also needs a way for readers to share the email we send directly to their own social media profiles. What's the best way to go about doing this? How can I tell if we're using second or third generation, as this seems to be the deciding factor?

Re: sharing on social

Hi @LisaR28!

These are really good questions. So, for your readers to share the email on social media, you are going to click on the Header Options when you are editing the email you want to be shareable. If you checkmark the box next to Social Share Links, it will place a button at the header of the email that will allow your readers to share on their own social media. This option is available on our second generation editor, which you are using. Here is a graphic showing the box you will check under Header Options:SocialShareLink.png

The main difference between the Second and Third Generation Editors is the view of the edit screen. Here is an article that will show you some of the differences between the two.
