Contact Headers

Need to have the ability to change header based on need. For instance, in my case cities and states are not as relevant as country. Yet, I cannot change the columns!

I NEED to see the phone # of the people who have opened my e-mails so I can follow up. This is beyond helpful. Otherwise this is of VERY little help.

I can't search based on wedding date, or even the wedding month which is important for the email marketing I need to do.

The entire reason I added the custom fields to my most recent upload was so that I could sort by those fields.

When I tried to chat with a specialist to see if this was possible, she informed me it was not possible through Constant Contact, and that I would need to export to Excel in order to do that. Considering I uploaded the lists FROM EXCEL, this defeats the entire purpose. (She was very nice and tried to be helpful, so I have no complaints about her customer service.  But seriously, where do you think my list came from?)

I guess I could 'tag' (I DO like the tag feature - it's great!) each of the custom field options within these contacts to then do what I want, but I cannot even see the custom field without going in to each individual's contact info page. To go in to each individual's contact page to find out the custom fields and then tag will take a very long time, again defeating the purpose of why I added the custom fields so that I could quickly and easily sort.

Moral of the story: please allow the Contact Management view to show/sort more than just Name/Email/DateAdded/Source or Name/Email/Company/City/State!

Thanks for letting us know what you'd like to see there! Being able to customize those column headers so you can sort the way you want on the main contacts page is a high proiority issue for us. We want you to be able to do what you need in the system quickly and easily, so please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any more details or feedback to give us!

it would be nice to be able to choose your view settings when viewing your active contacts. i.e. be able to choose what columns you can see. For example, name, list, tags or name, email, list, tags

Would like to be able to pull from contacts their birthdays each month
CTCT Employee

Thank you for your feedback!  You are able to search by custom fields or tags if you added their birthday into one of those fields.  Is this how you did that or did you add a custom date field?

I have sent you an email with my contact information.  Get back in touch with me and I can walk you through the options or provide your suggestions to our engineers for future improvements.

would love to be able to sort contacts by the "notes" field like we used to be able to. the advanced search pulls up the contacts that have a note but you need to then view the contact to find out what the note is.

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for supplying your feedback to us. It is very important, and we highly value your opinion.

Currently, there is a way to set the system to show you company names when viewing an email list or contacts category in the account. To switch the type of view that is displayed for you, follow this FAQ: https://knowledgebase.constantcontact.com/articles/KnowledgeBase/5478-list-management-view-and-conta...

Please don't hesitate to let us know any time you have questions, more information, or any feedback to give us!

In addition to the contact name, email, and date added, I would like to see a column called CONNECTION just wide enough for three to four words about where that contact came from. For instance, entries might include: Open House, Church, High School, College, Professional Associate, Physician, Lawyer, Dry Cleaner, Painter, Window Repairs, etc. This would help "jog" the memory of that entry when reviewing the contact list.

It would be nice to have all the custom fields we created appear each time we add a contact instead of the drop down menu.

It is a reminder of additional information we want to keep that perhaps we don't have at hand.

add new text???

It would be nice to have an option to change the columns to a custom sort when viewing the contact list. The two options available are limiting.

I am considering changing services because this new interface is so bad. You can't sort by any fields other than the 4 that appear on the screen and you can't click on a record and see the details. what were you thinking on this one. I know i am not the only one, the only direct option on your help number is for contact management. if you don't fix this soon I will be going elsewhere.

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues. Currently, the system does allow you to sort your lists by some additional fields. On the top right of any list, there is a "gear" icon. If you click on this, it will show you some additional views that you can sort by. Is there some additional fields that you would like to be able to choose from there?

Sort Contacts or Lists

When you click on a contact's name from the reports screen or even from the Contacts page, it will bring up their profile. You will see all details associated with them, including their engagement (when they open an email, click, unsubscribe, etc.) What are you seeing when you click on a contact?

Any additional information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Give us the ability to select which fields display in our contact lists. I have custom fields in each record that I want to see but can't right now.

Hi Barry,

To answer your question on how to changed the fields viewed on the Contacts list, please go to Contacts Tab and then at the top of your contact list, select the wheel icon at the upper right. This will let you toggle from one view to another. Here's a screenshot:

Hope this helps. Sorry for the delay in our reply. I have also moved your post together with our other list view posts. Thanks!

I greatly preferred your old listing of Contacts. I need date added and company together. We like to view the additions as they come in. I know I can download a report but I'd prefer if I didn't have to - and just did it all in-browser. John Ebbert

By selecting fields I wish to view.

We need to be able to see the title column in our view of contacts. Because we segment our markets by title and region, we would like to be able to customize our view.

It would be beneficial if the Choose Your View settings allowed me to Customize the columns visible. I use Custom Fields to track where I acquired each contacts name & email address and would like to be able to select customers by that field to create new mailing lists.

I would like to merge an HTML invoice field from our database into an e-mail. The maximum length for a custom field is currently 50 characters which has been the standard for quite some time and is very prohibitive! I would like constant contact to expand the length to a 1,000 characters.  If we had at least one field that we could merge in, it would be extremely helpful in generating e-mail invoices. I hope you would consider this enhancement in your future development efforts.

Thank you!!

Thank you for your suggestion. We have currently increased the custom field length to 255 characters long from 50. Another change is that you no longer have a limit to how many fields you can create. Your vote has been submitted for a 1,000 character custom field. Please keep voting for this and any other features you want to see.

I have to pull contact information by county. Can you please make one of the option on the view list menu a "county". Since we don't normally enter "city" in our contacts or "company", these sorts are totally useless to me. Please, please make county one of the choices. Thank you!

Hi Anita, custom fields are contact fields that you customize or create yourself if they are not available as a standard field in Constant Contact. Example you want to add your contact's "department" or their birthday. Those are not standard fields, you can create custom fields for them so you can import that data and even use them in your email. To create custom Fields, click My Settings > click Manage my Custom Fields on the left under Custom Settings. Hope that helps!

Is there a way to rearrange (customize) the column headers in the Bounced Contacts report?
Occasional Contributor
It would be very useful to be able to choose the fields displayed in a chosen list or search, not just the two options you give. Example: I would like to see the tags of my unsubscribed contacts list (which in my case are tied to the source of email addresses) so I can understand better the value of different channels of email gathering -- as if, on a promotion, they give us their emails, but after claiming promotion they unsubscribe.

I am trying to clean up my contacts that just aren't opening up the emails. Could you add that as an option for a "column" where source or date added is located? Currently I have to open each contact individually to see activity which is too time consuming.

Please add zip codes as an option for sorting and viewing contacts! Thanks

Hi Traffic123

Both of these options are available for you in the list view. Change the view you are seeing using the gear icon to the right of the contact list.

Thanks for the feedback! We value your opinion and want to give you the features and tools you want, and adding this column on the exported spreadsheet would be a great way to streamline the process! Keep your eye out for changes like this in the future. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any more details or feedback to give us!

Customers should have the ability to decide on the sort order for contacts and lock them in.

For Unsubscribes-- It is more valuable to see/sort by the date they unsubscribed rather than when they were added. Also, to see the "Unsubscribed after receiving" data/field. both these pieces of data would help to identify trends/activities that are triggering unsubscribes.

would be nice to choose what headings show, not just have 2 options....

Thanks for the feedback! We value your opinion and want to give you the features and tools you want, being able to see the date that your contact unsubscribed is a feature we would like to offer again soon. Customizing the column headers to a view that you would prefer to see is probably a little ways down the road still, but we're working on it! Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any more details or feedback to give us! The support team here can be reached at (866) 289-2101 when you need us!

When put in my contact list twice, once as an individual and once as a company, then this creates an inaccurate report on growth--it can double the actual number of individuals that signed up. So that report is useless for me. Also, when I view my contact lists, there is not option to have both the date added and the company in view. This is also inconvenient. I know that you made this feature based on certain customer input but they must be different types of businesses than mine. As a result, I have to do work around which waste my time.
Visitor
In the contact management page you give me two options for display purposes, neither of which contain all the info I'd like to see displayed. The individual contact fields are also lacking, and I see no way to change the company name of the individual contact either. Another issue: How about letting us choose which information to Export (which is another complaint all on its own), since the Export function doesn't even Export the same information each time. I ran four export reports for email "opens" and came up with different fields in each of the spreadsheets, even though it should have been the same report. I continue to have great dissatisfaction with the "upgrades".

Figured out how to change the company name, let's not make that logical and/or user friendly.

Hello, In Constant Contact's general Contacts View, it'd be helpful to be able to either have additional views (vs. the 2 currently offered) or user customizable views. Specifically, it'd be helpful to be able to see: Name, Email, Co., City/St, TITLE, PHONE Thank you.

Hi, When I open a contact list, the list shows me fields that I don't care about. On the other hand, the fields that I do care about do not display. Further even if I click on choose view, there are only two views to choose from. Isn't this a bit cumbersome? Please give me more flexibility to see the fields that I need to see and that I work with, instead of fields, such as City, State, that don't matter to me. Thanks

On the page that lists the Contacts, the following columns appear: Name, Email, Date Added and Source. It would ideal if the Source column could be editable in that we could choose what we want that column to include. Understanding some may like to see the Source, we would much rather have the option to view the Status of the contact - whether Active or Unsubscribed, especially when viewing All Contacts (assuming, of course, All Contacts included both Active and Unsubscribed). Also, separating the Name column into First Name and Last Name would make it much easier to sort and search. I much prefer the old version of Contact Management. Not really like this version.

It would be helpful if there were a way to quickly scroll through contacts. I've just uploaded a new list of contacts, but I find one or more of them are already in my contacts and on other lists. It's important for me to be able to see who these contacts are that are on other lists so I can tailor my message properly. All I can figure out to do is to call up the tag for the last upload, click on each contact one at a time to check what lists they are on. It's only 129 contacts, but it's a terrible use of time. Might be a help if we could see what lists they are on in the list view. Other criteria choices there would also be helpful!

Every place that a report has the ability to show a list of email recipients (Contact List, Unique Opens Report, Clicks Report, Bounced Report,in other words ALL place) there should be the option, if not by default to display a column that shows the user what email list the contact belongs to. It is unbelievable that you have to click into each contact to see which list they belong to...example below.

I want to be able to reorder all the fields, not just the custom fields. The order as determined by Constant Contact is not logic for my form. When I created my account a few years ago, I also created the custom fields that I need and was able to order them in the way I needed. The new "improved" view is rigid and doesn't allow me to reorder the fields to meet my needs!
Regular Visitor
Please give us an option to view custom fields in the list view. Right now we only have two "stock" options. I have a custom field that I use as sort of a "expiration date" that I use to delete contacts and right now there is no easy way to do that.

Give more options than just viewing 2 ways.
