Contact Interests Update - what we see vs what they see

I wish there was an option for what the subscriber sees vs what we see when they add themselves to list they're interested in by updating their profile. My company has oodles of lists that are very specific by year or previous purchase, and I wish the interest form could just say "Memberships" vs what we actually want to know on our end, which is "Memberships - Interested" that way we could cross reference the lists and see who was interested and ended up purchasing vs who is interested and hasn't purchased yet and we could further segregate the email lists that way.
