One page says 436 unique opens, another say 295. What the hell is going on at Constant Contact? Can't you get this right? Are you ever going to fix it?
Thank you for working to develop/improve the way we all use and manage Constant contact features. As with any new format, it takes time to get used to so I'm not going to use this space to mention every learning-curve issue I have. Just two big functionality issues. My organization manages many many lists as we have targeted mailings and like to split lists to test subjects, etc. So . . .
1.) The previous Contact main dashboard, which listed all lists across the page so I could easily browse and see full title and how many contacts, is missing in a big way. It would be nice to be able to view the lists across the full page, so that I can easily order/update properties and browse. That seems like a basic feature that should be added back.
2.) Removing multiple contacts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that we can no longer easiliy remove multiple email addresses from a list by copying and pasting them in as in the previous version. As far as I can tell, I have to search each contact from the main search field and then click something like "add to lists" to then uncheck the list I want to remove them from. For managing email follow-ups for products and events, where I don't want to email people who have already purchased or participated, this new way is HUGELY inefficient. The previous option was a great time-saver and helped us easily dedupe for campaigns with multiple follow-ups.
3.) Also not a huge fan of the placement of the merge option - it's definitely not user-intuitive, but I did figure it out after paying close attention to your guide.
4.) Finally a suggestion - for testing emails. It would be amazing if Constant Contact had a feature that would allow us to easily split lists for testing right in the Contact Management dashboard.
Great ideas, thanks for sharing! I understand the need for navigation options and will keep you updated of plans for something to help this.
Just a note, when using the back button on the browser it should bring you back to the previous page even if you had sorted or flipped through pages of contacts. If you see it bringing you back to the first page please let me know what steps you are following so I can take a look.
Thank you for your feedback. You are correct in that tags are generally applied to individual contacts rather than to lists. This will allow you to assign different tags to different individuals within the same list. To tag every contact on the same list, you will want to open the list, select all contacts within the list and then click to "Manage Tags".
I apologize that the lists along the left side of the page are hard to work with. We have received a lot of great feedback on this and are looking into implementing a full list view again. Please continue to vote on this and any other topics you would like to see implemented.
Hi Sandy, Thank you for your feedback. To change your list to sort by last name, you will want to click on the Name header at the top of your list. When you click on this, it will then give you the option to sort by Last Name instead of First Name and also allows you to sort by ascending or descending order.
I know that this may not be immediately apparent. Hopefully this will help in being able to identify your contacts a little more easily.
Thank you for posting. This is all really great feedback. We have received a lot of great feedback about being able to sort the lists in different ways. We are currently looking into implementing this. Please stay tuned for updates on this. I also appreciate your input on creating new list and adding contacts to that list from a file. A suggestion I have is creating the new list during the upload process. This could help eliminate the step of having to create the list first and then uploading the file. When you are uploading your file and get to the step where it asks to set the Permission to Send and "add to list", when you click on the plus sign it will bring up all of your current lists as as well as the option to create a new list on the spot (as shown below). Hopefully this can help to eliminate that extra step. Thanks again for your feedback!
Thank you for posting. I apologize for the frustration this is causing. What exactly is keeping your newsletters from sending? Are you receiving any types of error when sending your email? Would you mind providing a little more detail on what you are looking to have fixed?
In the new contact management interface, I really miss the ability to list and sort the contacts by Last name. I also miss the ability to choose in what order to display the email lists.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We are currently looking into implementing the option of choosing the order of email lists. Stay tuned for updates on this. As for sorting your list by Last Name: this is possible by clicking to the Name header at the top of your list. This will allow you to sort by Last Name in ascending or descending order. Yes, these are contacts that have been in our list. The new format lumps them all together i.e.. (good contacts, contacts that have not replied to opt-in email, contacts internally blocked by Constant Contact). This format does not allow the removal of the bad contacts, because we have no way to filter for them.
I understand that if the address bounces I can remove them at that time. But if the address is blocked and never sent to by Constant Contact, they will never bounce. The only way I have found to get around this is to print out the list that received a recent mailing and then compare it to the full list and pick out the bad addresses. That may work on a list of 100 or so, but one of our lists has almost a 1000 bad addresses. I just don't have that kind of time to devote to keeping my lists clean.
To me this is unacceptable, if the address can't be mailed to don't include it in our lists or give me an easy way to remove them.
I am sorry for the issues you are experiencing with the new contacts system. For contacts that have no replied to opt in emails they will be listed in the awaiting confirmation filter on the left hand side of the contacts tab. Also what features or process in the old contacts system did you use to do these tasks? The only time we would not send to an address is in they specifically contacted us or if they bounced 3 times within 16 days. How did you acquire a list of contacts that we were not sending to in the past. Any information will be helpful in hopefully resolving this issue for you.
After looking into your account I was not able to find the email you were referring to. Can you please email that information as well as a reference to this post to firstname.lastname@example.org so that your email names privacy is kept, then we can look into this further.

Let me tell you how much I SERIOUSLY DISLIKE the new format for managing contacts!!
First - the only link to the next part of the list is at the bottom of the page, so I have to scroll all the way down. Please return the option to go to page "x" of "x" number of pages. It's much faster.
Second - when finished with changes on one contact, it bounces me back to the beginning of the alphabetized list. TIME CONSUMING AND FRUSTRATING!!!! I would agree with one post that suggested you have two options for users - those who need a simple database of their contacts (name & email address) and those who choose to use Contact Contact for all their contacts' information.
Third - Almost every time I work with Constant Contact I experience a "freeze" of some sort while saving the changes just done to a text block. Irksome.
I've been using Constant Contact for over 2 years, but your latest changes have been frustrating beyond belief.
You want Carolyn and me and everyone else to rename our lists because CC decided to change format? What a stupid idea! How many customers asked for this change? Or did someone at CC just think it was a good idea? This new format is now a huge waste of my time.
I don't need to see every individual person in my database, I'm with Carolyn, I need to see my LISTS!!! Change it back or I'll be finding another company to do my email campaigns.
I too miss the old system where you could order your lists. I find the new updates in the contact section very confusing and counterintuitive. It feels so bulky to me.
adding a new contact is not as user friendly. Also, I have alot of email lists. Prior to the change I had the email lists sorted so I could use the most often used email lists first, now it's been sorted alphabetically so I have to scroll scroll scroll to find & select the lists I want to add the contact to. Please allow us to sort lists in our account in order of preference.

Amen to that! If I have time to learn a new system...well, actually, I don't have time to learn a new system.
Since CC hasn't even responded to these posts, I can only assume they don't give a crap about changing the contacts list back the way it was when it worked efficiently. Therefore, since I am basically going to have to learn a new system all over again like you Julianne, I might as well start with a new company that doesn't get it's emails blocked by most major email companies and doesn't have all the editing issues that I have when I'm changing/inputing content in my emails.
Goodbye Constant Contact. It's been a not so wonderful 5 years, but you have lost another client due to not listening to all the complaints about your new User Interface. So much for putting the clients first.
I want to first apologize for the frustration this is causing you. I want to let you know we greatly value your feedback and it has been heard, we are working on a change to the list section so please stay tuned! Unfortunately since it is not an immediate fix Hannah was able to supply a workaround for your "top" lists. For instance your top 5 lists you use most often you can add the numbers 1-5 in front of the list name to jump it to the top. I know this isn't ideal but is a valuable workaround for the time being until this feature has been changed. If you have other questions regarding this issue please let me know.
I really like most of the changes you have made, but one is very annoying, and a step back in my opinion.
Previously when we first entered the main contacts section we used to be able to see a clear list of all our email lists, how many emails they contained and their full titles. This was a useful page!
Now the same info is essentially accessible, using the scrolling list of email lists on the left of the screen but it is not at-a-glance, I have 15 or so lists, and cannot find a way to view an overview. I can't see the title and number of contacts in more than 3 or 4 at once without scrolling. This is really annoying and difficult to manage lists.
Am I missing something? Please tell me how to view a simple overview of all my lists in one go, not just that tiny scrolling section on the left.
I also hate the changes Constant Contact has implemented to the contact section of the program. I maintain a lot of lists and it is very hard to see them and to modify them. I much prefer when the lists were listed on the main contact page.
Every upload takes sooo much longer than it ever did before. I don't know why the same upload would cause the software such grief, but it never was a problem.
How would you find the contacts who are not on a list?
When people opt-in, we can now longer see which lists they want to be added to!! Huge problem!
When fixing bounced emails to either remove them from the list or update the address, you can't just click and take what you want (undeliveable or blocked). There is no longer an option to choose what type of bounced you want to export.
It is not at all user friendly.
There was no problem before, why does Constant Contact continuously change things? Just leave well enough alone. Every time user get used to where the buttons are and how everything looks, the company goes and changes everything around for no reason.
Stop changing things around all the time!
