Unsubscribe Reason should be included in export

Unsubscribe Reason should be included in export

there is no field for the unsubscribe reason when you export the information from the new contacts feature

This is quite valuable information for record keeping reasons

Is there a way for CC to generate a email when a contact unsuscribes - or when a new one subscribes? Pulling reports is an awkward way and sometimes a quick response is important.

Hello,

There is a way you can get updates based on when contacts subscribe, or unsubscribe. If you follow the directions in the following link you will be able to get those updates in your email.

This new format is not user friendly. I tried to copy an e-mail to check it against my database and it won't let me. It is a click through to the contact's information page. Not very helpful. I also tried to copy the message the contact left when unsubscribing, but it won't let me do that.

The width of the column you provide for customers to enter their reason for unsubscribing is one character wide! Hard to decipher the text; please edit the form so we can easily read the comments as you had before.

Why can't I see the 'reason' column in my unsubscribes report? I see the "Re" to the right of my screen, but that's it. I have my feedback setting turned on...

I cannot find the place where unsubscribers can comment on why they unsubscribed. I changed the footer option earlier to accomodate this. Thanks.

Dear Wendy,

What browser are you using when you are unable to see the unsubscribe info? Have you been able to replicate this in another browser or have you had issues since you reported this post?

If you could provide me your browser information, including a version and possibly a screenshot this would help us determine what the issue might be.

It is VERY hard to actually find the reasons why someone unsubscribed. This is extremely valuable information to me for my business, to learn if I have made any strategic mistakes in my marketing emails, offended someone, etc. Constant Contact seems to encourage us to be ethical with our marketing and our lists, so why do you make it so hard to find this information? When I receive one of your notices of an unsubscribe, the reason is NOT in the email you send me, and it is NOT even in the person's card! I have to waste time looking up reports from all recently sent email campaigns in hopes that I may find the unsubscriber's name and reason for unsubscriging. This is a huge waste of time, and, sometimes I can't even find the information. Could you please add the reason for unsubbing (when the client provides it of course) in both the email notices you send us, and, in the unsubs Contact card? Sometimes, I have clients who decide they no longer want to be on my mailing list but still have consultations with me, or still buy products from me. It is VERY helpful for me to see in print whatever they wrote about not wanting the emails/newsletters. Please, don't make us work so hard to find this valuable information. Thank you.

it would be so helpful to have the undeliverable and unrecognizable emails to be attached to the main contact list as the unsubscribed is so that in deleting those we can pull the list collectively without having to go into each mailing. Also, the collective unsubscribed email list does not contain the reason for unsubscribing. Have to go into the individual email mailing to get the info. Thank you, Kris Shapiro

When pulling up a contact it is easier seeing what lists they are on. I like that, even though it is more work putting them into the system.

Is there a way to add a reason for when we unsubscribe someone from our mailing list? It would be nice to be able to see that on the reports we get so we can have a better idea of why people no longer wish to receive emails.

Thanks for your feedback about making the unsubscribe reason easier to find. Currently you can see the reason in the report of the email that the user unsubscribed from.

Also, you can have a user opt out of one list or all lists by showing the lists on the Update Profile form. Click Contacts>SignUp Tools> Update Profile Form and check off the lists you want to show. If you don't have any lists showing they will be opted out from all.

Add me..

This is a silly situation. That tip only shows you the people who unsubscribed via the email and not people who unsubscribe other ways... such as clicking to subscribe a second time on your site.

I want one report for unsubscribes however they occur and I want to see the reasons. I want to see it in one place for all unsubscribes not email by email.

This is a key requirement for managing a list and building an audience. Please fix this..

I heartily concur.  I just went through this again last night, updating my master contact list for our organization, a contact list which lies outside of Constant Contact.  We need to know not just who unsubscribes from Constant Contact, but why.  Depending on the reason (if one is stated), we may want to remove that person from our postal mailing list as well, and/or make other notes in the master list.  And yes, I also have no idea who may have unsubscribed independently of responding to a specific email, which it is quite possible to do.  In fact, on our Website, we point people to Constant Contact if they want to subscribe OR unsubscribe.

All in all, it took me over an hour and a half to perform a task which in the past would have only taken five minutes. Your new interface is a colossal time sink, and needs to be fixed.

please let me copy paste the reason that they unsubscribe into QuickBooks so I don't pester her about resubscribing. I love the way that the reason shows up in the report now. Thank you.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I can't even begin to imagine why CC would think leaving this reporting function out would be beneficial to users?

Please keep us apprised of when this will be added back in.  I believe the comments here are reflective of the majority of users of CC.

I used to be able to export a report of unsubscribes, which included a field for reason for unsubscribing. I could easily scan down the whole list to see their reasons. I DO NOT want to have to do that, contact by contact. Too inefficient!!!! Actually, it would be wonderful to have that field included in the report I get (once a week) listing the new subscribers and the unsubscribers: nothing to download at all. Doesn't Constant Contact think this is important???

Where can I view unsubscribe details? I did a mass unsubscribe years ago (realizing we didn't have permission). Now, most of these people are being added with permissions. However, I can no longer see the unsubscribe date or reason or source of the unsubscribe. I now have no idea how to differentiate those that I unsubscribed vs. those who unsubscribed themselves. To me, this is really crucial information.

How do I get the report to tell me who cc could not import because they were unsubscribed? I just imported the file and under the completed activity list it has the number 5 and tells me it could not add 5 users because they are unsubscribed It won't open up any kind of file. Is it under reports? How do I figure out who is unsubscribed in this new list I just imported?

Thanks for this feedback, I am glad to hear the reporting is helpful for you!

I just verified with a support tech that "Reason" for Unsubscribe is available for export ONLY from individual email reports and not from the Contact Management area. I would like to export all of my "Unsubscribed" contacts along with the reason they unsubscribed. I think this is a big oversight and important to implement. Please let me know when it's implemented. Thank you! Rodrigo

When someone unsubscribes from our list, any comment they make should be visible on their contact record (like it always USED to be)! i really don't CARE *which* message they were reading when they unsubscribed, but that's the only place to see their comment! Today I got an unsubscribe notice, but there's no indication of WHICH message she was reading when she unsubscribed, so I have no way of knowing whether she even MADE a comment, let alone what it WAS! NOT COOL!!

Yes, I also agree. This doesn't help.

How many users is 'enough', to 'do your best'?

I see this response peppered amongst the thousands of complaints, but never see changes back to the way it was.

cannot see cusotomer's opt out reason in their file or when the date the opted out. weekly reports do not match up with the total of opt-outs. too much time trying to find information. going to look for alternative email company after 6 months of problems since they did the website change. I continue to find this site more and more cumbersome to use. Where are the unsubscribe comments? You sent me an email suggesting i review the "report' where is it? it's not obvious to me. I am following the directions in the email and after 20 minutes of spinning my wheels I am giving up. You guys have work to do here. Things like this should be easy. You should not need to take a course to figure it out.

I just got my new weekly subscribe/unsubscribe list and I don't get the info I used to get. There is no reason why the person unsubscribed and no info like location etc.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for any inconvenience these changes have caused. Besides, the reason and location, what other kinds of information would you like to see in the report?

Member
I used to run this report monthly and follow-up with anyone that left a reason for opting out in the last month that required feedback. The report of Unsubscribes not does not give me opt-out date or reason. This was a very helpful tool and one we used regularly to gain back customers.

I used to be able to download all the comments people made when they unsubscribed. How can I do that now, or at least see the comments somewhere?

@Vegetarians

Unsubscribe comments can be found directly within the Unsubscribed report. You can go to the Email tab, click on Reports or the name of the email and then the hyperlinked number for Unsubscribed. In the right column, you will see the reason for Unsubscribing.

I would like to be able to see the reason for the unsubscribe on the report. This would help us to manage these unsubscribes in an efficient way. I would also like to see which list they were on.

Hello Austin,

The issue you are currently having is a system issue where you can not see the unsubscribe comment. If you would like to see that information please visit email > reports > unsubscribe page you can see the comment. This issue right now has no ETA on when this might be fixed however If you would like to know when it is resolved please reply back to this post.

It would be nice if the exported Opt-out report/list included the reasons for opting out.

When I downloaded the "unsubscribe" report there was no column for "comments" so I could not see why the contacts were leaving. When I called CC, I was told the only way to see the comments was by going to each email sent, opening it and printing the whole report for each one. This is slow, very time consuming and a waste of paper. IT dept. please put the "comment" area in the "Unsubscribe Report" as it states that it is on the "latest contact/subscriber report" that we receive via email. Thank you!
