Managing Duplicate Contacts From an UPLOADED List, not one at a time...

It would be nice to be able to manage what to do with duplicates after uploading SEVERAL contacts from an Excel file... for example:  Our company has 9 outside salespeople that cover a 7 state territory. Sometimes, their customers overlap - So sometimes, I find out that some of the duplicates that replaced my previous contacts were incorrect... the previous contacts' information was actually the correct info, and the newer list I uploaded with those duplicates' info was outdated.  It's hit and miss - however, I do not have the opportunity to review them, to send to our salespeople for review...nothing...they are just replaced.  Mind you, this is different when uploading ONE contact at a time, when entering ONE contact at a time, it does ask you if you want to edit or replace - so you can review.  Please integrate that same review process when uploading a FILE full of contacts as well.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with duplicate contacts. When you add a contact to Constant Contact all of the additional information such as the name, address and phone number is tied to the email address. When you upload a new spreadsheet with contacts that have the same email address but different information such as the name, it will update that other information to match the most recent import. All of this said, I will pass along your feedback to our development team.

If you have specific examples of contacts who have duplicate email addresses in your account please email that information to social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com. Please also include your Constant Contact username and a reference to this post. We will take a look at your account and see what can be done to resolve the duplicate issue.

I hope that this helps to explain but please let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using Constant Contact, have a great weekend!
