change image and keep the same URL

Is it possible to change the image and keep the same url for an email that i have already sent ?

At this time, only documents can be replaced while keeping the same URL if it was inserted into an email though a document link.

Hi Chris,

 

I just wanted to follow up with you here in regards to your question and re-iterate what our specialist communicated to you. I also, want those that stumble across this post with the same inquiry to have an answer.

 

Currently, at this time, we do not have the functionality to have an image swapped out of an email with another image. The best thing we could advise you to do is: 

1) Delete the incorrect image from your library - thereby breaking the link and removing it from the sent email and immediately send out a new email with the correct image. 

2) Simply send out a corrected email with the correct image and place a note on the top letting your contacts know you experienced a glitch and to disregard the previous email. Contacts tend to respond best to a solution like this if you downplay the mistake; we all make them. Perhaps change the subject line to include "[ Correction ]" in it, so that your contacts know to open that one as well and they don't think they're getting a duplicate email from you.

That is a terrible solution. Why is it impossible to replace the reference image file? Is there a technical reason?

Since the original date of this post we have made some changes to this process.  You can request Constant Contact to change an image within a sent email.  This process does need to be completed through our support department.  Do you need to replace an image from one of your campaigns?

I do! The support rep I chatted with earlier said it wasn't possible. How can I do this?

Agreed, this is a bad solution...  Wasn't this functionality available in the last generation editor?

Hi @cgambino 

 

That's a great question. I apologize a replace image option, was also not available in our older Second Generation Editor. Because of this deleting the image in your Library to break the link for the image is the workaround we still suggest. It's always important to keep in mind though that deleting your image will cause the image to show as deleted in all emails it was included in.
