why can;t I use my own document. In other words, I want to send an email to my existing list without creating a document

I'm afraid that isn't how email works. What you're describing is using email with an attachment.
What's the format of your document?

We used to be able to attach a pdf as a document. I do not see an option to do this. I am attaching a form (a complex form) to fill out. I would like for it to appear as a link to click.

Hello @MelissaM23830,

 

I appreciate you coming to the Community with this inquiry. The "document link" feature you might be familiar with from the old editor has been integrated with the new one. I will show you how to find it:

 

1) Write out the line of text you want to hyperlink and then highlight it. Click on the "Link" button in the toolbar that pops with the text block.

2) Click on "Type of Link" and then choose "Document."

3) From here, you can upload the document or choose from an existing PDF in your Library. Note: You can only choose one file at a time. After that, you can hit "Insert."

4) Now it is hyperlinked and you can format the text how you would like (Bold, Font Color, Font Size, Font Style, etc.)
