<h1 class="h1">September 2012</h1>
<p class="p">The end of summer is fast approaching. Temperatures are dropping, leaves are changing colors and most importantly, the kids are back in school! It truly is one of the most beautiful times of the year to live in the Central Valley.</p>
<p class="p">We here at Connections Family Center have been busily preparing our programming schedule for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. Please take a moment to read through this newsletter in order to stay up to date with all that we have to offer.</p>
<p class="p">As always, if you have questions, comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are here to serve you <em>and</em> your family!</p>
<h2 class="h2"><a name="openmic" id="openmic"></a>Open Mic Night</h2>
<p class="p">We held our first ever open mic night on Saturday, August 25th and it was a wonderful success! Approximately 70 persons attended, including 14 members of the UCP Day Program. Our silent auction raised over $400, which will be used to support the UCP Music Program.</p>
<p class="p">Nice weather, good music, good food and camaraderie set the tone. Look for the next Open Mic Night on March 9th at our site in Turlock! <img src="http://db.tt/j2JGJITF" alt="Open Mic" width="360" height="240"></p>
<h2 class="h2"><a name="openhouse" id="openhouse"></a>Love Modesto</h2>
<p class="p">Please join us September 29th for Love Modesto. We will be working on our "Field of Hope." Volunteers will help construct a sports field and a playground at our site on Rumble Road.</p>
<p class="p">We will be meeting at 9 AM in Downtown Modesto between 15th and 16th on I Street (In front of the Gallo Center). </p>
<p class="p">This should be a great time, so be sure to put on your working clothes and come have some fun!</p>
<h2 class="h2"><a name="dreamteam" id="dreamteam"></a>Dream Team Basketball</h2>
<p class="p">Participating in organized basketball is nothing more than a dream for many children who have a disability, but fortunately we are here to change that. This October, Connections Family Center is launching Dream Team Basketball, a league intended to give children with a disability the opportunity to enjoy the game of basketball in a fun, non-competitive environment.</p>
<p class="p">Children ages 5-17 are welcome to participate. The league will be held on Saturdays at Hart Ransom Elementary, from October 6 - December 10. The deadline to register is September 21.</p>
<p class="p">Please consider supporting this new venture by sponsoring a team or volunteering your time. We need as many 1-on-1 aides as possible to ensure that each child will be able to fully enjoy this experience. Children are welcome to volunteer!</p>
<p class="p">Please visit our website for more information or to download the registration form.</p>
<h2 class="h2"><a name="preschool" id="preschool"></a>Preschool Enrollment</h2>
<p class="p">Kairos Child Development Center, located at Connections Family Center, is currently offering an open-enrollment special. If you choose to enroll your child before the end of September we will waive the annual registration fee and take half off of your 2nd month's tuition. We invite you to come down, tour our facility and speak with one of our highly qualified instructors to learn the benefits of enrolling your child at Kairos Child Development Center.</p>
<p class="p">We understand that families have unique needs and we have several options available to help meet them. Our packages range from preschool only to full day childcare, with many options in between. Our program offers a wide variety of experiences using the Creative Curriculum program. Children will experience creative art, music, science, pre-math, stories, language skills, Zoo-Phonics, food preparation, dramatic play, manipulative skills, group activities and indoor/outdoor play.</p>
<p class="p">Our children grow and develop together through a hands-on-minds-on approach, in a safe and caring environment. We welcome and encourage you to come and see if Kairos is the right fit for you and your most precious loved ones.</p>

I'm having a specialist take a look at this and they're going to get back to you. Is email the best way to reach you?
The turnaround is 3-4 days but it may be sooner and more than likely it normally is.
Let me know about the best possible way to reach you.
This is always a frustrating experience. I'm on deadline for publishing our daily newsletter and have just pasted a bunch of stories into our e-mail template. I hit save and am greeted with the following error message:
"The following character(s) are not supported. Please remove them before saving."
That is followed by some cryptic description of the supposedly unsupported characters. See the attached screenshot for today's instance.
I open the text box, go into HTML, find the story, highlight and delete the offending paragraph, open a text editor, paste the text into that program (which should strip out all codes), copy and paste it back into the HTML editor, switch back to design and save again. Same message.
I look a the text again in the HTML editor and there are no unusual characters in the entire paragraph.
The ONLY way to get rid of the error message is to retype every character in the paragraph, then resave.
Can someone explain to me what characters in the attached example are not supported? It appears to be a "space" between two words. What would that not be supported?
I apologize for the frustrations with invalid characters appearing in your content. I looked into your last email and it seems you are copying and pasting HTML code from another source directly into Constant Contact, this is most likely the source of the error you are receiving. When importing code into the WYSIWYG editor it can bring in characters that are not supported.
Since it seems you are creating code outside of Constant Contact and bringing that back into our editor I would suggest creating the whole email in HTML and create a custom coded email. Using your own custom code will stop the invalid characters error.
Here is a great set of guide lines for creating a Custom coded email.
