Maybe I'm confused, but I was under the impression that they were wondering if they could make a copy of their custom email after sending it and using our API to do so. That's why I directed them to the developer boards.
Well actually it was written a bit foggy. I just picked up on capturing the email after its sent and I know that's a no-no.

Once an email has been sent, you cannot edit the email or the View as Webpage section. You can make a copy of the email to edit if you wish to send it out again, however we advise against this.
