Need for one email to be able to register multiple times for an event

Need for one email to be able to register multiple times for an event

I am using Constant Contact for registrations for a church Summer Camp. We need separate registrations for each camper. We are having a problem with parents who are trying to register more than one child. The limit of one registration per one email address is VERY FRUSTRATING!! There should be a way to allow the same email to register more than one participant for an event. Please call me if you need clarification on my problem:**Removed By Moderator**. Thank you!!

I am wondering why your program only allows me to use an email address once per event? Thomas N: Great question Patty, I'd be happy to take a look at this with you. Thomas N: So our EventSpot system is setup so that an email address can only be entered once to prevent people from registering multiple times and causing confusion for you. You: Here's why it's a problem. We use your program for parish and school events. The parish secretary might register 5 people using their email. Then they get three more people wanting to attend. When the secretary goes to register the next three, what email should she use, so she gets the confirmation to give to the bookkeeper? Thomas N: I understand the concern here. So what they would need to do is use a different email address, or you can cancel the initial registration and they can re-register with the new names. I would recommend putting in some feedback about this though. You have to make sure this works for you, and so do we. Thomas N: And there is a little feedback option at the bottom right hand corner when you're on the dashboard for your event that you can use. You: No - neither of those are good timesaving options. They are just work arounds for a poorly thought out process. We have learned to work with multiple formulas to make the downloaded reports work for registration lists. I will put my suggestion on the feedback button, Sorry to use the wrong format for a product revision suggestion.

The Email restrictions are killing me! I need to register participants in Constant Contact who registered before the event was live and I don't have email addresses for them. I would like to use one generic email address, but it won't allow me to do that. This is going to be a big problem now, and potentially in the future. We're just starting to use the Events and just ran into this issue.

Maybe there could be an option for a "Group" that would allow more than one registration to be tied to an email address.

It appears that once someone purchases an event and thus registers a name onto the database, that this person cannot buy other events. Nobody told us that when we set up our multiple event dates. Nobody has told me that during 6++ support calls, including today when I was on the phone close to an hour - until the last rep I spoke to moments ago that said CC CANNOT do that, period. Once a name is entered on the registration list that person cannot buy another event, unless that person happens to have 6 different emails and remembers which email he signed up with at that point. I need clarification of that at your earliest convenience as we need to start up a new season of concert dates - like last week. We are a ticketed event w/ 6 different dates throughout the year: a season pkg plus 5 individual dates. Someone might want a season and then decide he wants 2 more tickets for another single date later on. Or someone may not want the season pkg, but they do want to come to the Oct event, then later on decide they want to come to the March event. I'm told by this last rep that CC NO CAN DO. I need a firm, knowledgeable clarification, please.

I work with family events and requiring first and last name without allowing me to edit the field to say "father's name" is frustrating. This form generator is not set up to deal with family registrations at all.

I'm working with a Chamber of Commerce. We would like to use Eventspot for our Summer Outing and Golf Tournament. Some of our members will be registering several people for golf and/or dinners. For example Company A may want to purchase 3 Golf Foursomes. They can only choose 1 Foursome. We need to collect information about each of the players in the Foursome. Plus, each person in the Foursome must select a dinner from 4 choices. That company may also be registering several people for Dinner only.

I could get around some of this with the Custom Questions which is awkward at best. But not being able to buy more than one is the deal breaker. For each person to have to go into the program and sign up singly is just wrong.

These are very real limitations for Chambers of Commerce and others who plan large events. My client is now searching for a more comprehensive solution to online registration. Constant Contact is not delivering it with Eventspot.

We are using CC for multiple events and promotions. However, the system does not allow more than one participant or registrant to sign up for a single email. Because most of our clients are children, we need to be able to register more than one name (child) for each of the adult's email addresses. I do not see any options for this in settings. Any suggests you have are appreciated.

Thanks for posting this feedback! Have you considred having the adult register with the child listed as a guest?

I run up to 50 different events a year and many of my customers want to register for multiple events. To do so they have to register for each event individually. I would wager that many of them are overwhelmed by the process of registering over and over and might think to register later for later events but then never do. It would be easier for my customers if they could register for all of my live events in one process and pay just once. And I bet I would get more registrations.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. You are right, you cannot register more than once for the same address using the same email address. You would need to use all different email addresses to do this. A workaround is to use the items for sale to list dates of the event. When a person registers they choose a date or multiple to purchase.

I completely agree! Also, sometimes a person will want to register additional people as guests, after the fact of registration. If you can't have duplicate emails, at least let them edit their own registration--or at least the event creator should be able to!

Is it possible to add a feature that would allow for the importing of mulpitle registrations?  I see that I can manually add one registration, but not multiple.  I have an event where a sponsor would register and be given 10 individual registration for free.  When they register as a sponsor they pay for the registeration.  They do not always have the list of the 10 individual that will be attending at that time available.  I would like to be able to provide them with a pdf form to provide the 10 to me.  Once I receive that, I would like to be able to upload that into the registration rather than manually entering each one.  I am aware that you can upload into the email marketing side of constant contact, so is it possible to have such a feature available on the event side as well?

Hi WillistonWire

There isn't any function to allow bulk registrants manually under the same person but this is a good idea for the future!

I'm selling raffle tickets and if someone registers / purchases raffle or event tickets, their email address is saved and they are not allowed to purchase again with that same email address. The only way to work around this is to change everyone who register's email address so they can purchase more tickets at a later date

On your event registrations, you require that email addresses be filled out, but some people do not have an email address. We find it frustrating that we can't eliminate (or make optional) the email address box.
There needs to be a more obvious/clear cut manner for our registrants to register multiple people (in our case family members) under the same email address. My suggestion is to place two buttons at the bottom of the registration form "add additional participants" and "continue to payment"

Please include the option (for the event co-ordinator to choose) on event registrations that people can register multiple times from the same email address.

Any update on this Hannah_M?

Hello, I am concerned that registration forms will not accept more than one registration that contains the same email address. For parents, organizations, or anyone that needs to submit additional registrations after the initial registration this function is essential. It happens quite often in my organization and so I wonder how often this happens to other individuals. I know other registration programs such as Wufoo will allow same email addresses to be used more than once allowing families or groups to register as people are added to an event allowing for more flexibility in regards to the timeliness of information received. Is this something you all can look at? Not having this function is an extreme inconvenience. Thanks! Paula

We set up a reoccurring event that folks are not able to pay all at one time and some of them only can attend every other month. Is there a way to allow a person to register for the same event more than one time? Even if we have to go in and delete them after each event...Here is a link to the event: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=dpmadceab&oeidk=a07ebqwazv370aeb5a2

Please allow a duplicate email address for registrations and the ability to add/cancel items purchased in Event Spot Registration Maintenance. It's a PAIN IN THE REAR when you need to add/delete anything - you have to completely cancel the registration if you want to add another person or cancel a person for an event.

Our organization runs youth camps through the summer in which it would be extremely helpful for parents to be able to use their email more than once - for example if wanting to register their child for a camp in June and later add an additional camp in July or August. We have addressed this issue through a variety of creative measures on our end, though it remains an inefficiency. I have been told for several years now that CC is working on addressing this issue - thank you for continuing to find a solution - it would definitely increase the EventSpot usability greatly! Thanks for your consideration!

Since we cannot use the same email address for several people it was necessary for us to print the tickets and send them to the people that were paying. Now since your upgrade I can no longer print a person's ticket. when I choose view my option is now grayed out. Can you please enable it. I need to get to each ticket to print it if necessary. Thank you.

I love the capability that Eventspot gives for creating tickets for ticketed events. I've been using this feature for the past three years now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow emails to be registered more than once. Many of my customers desire to pay via more than one transaction, and it doesn't help if one has to use a secondary email, especially if a secondary email is not established already. Thank you!

Well, it looks like unless we all start calling and sending emails, Constant Contact is NEVER going to address this issue. I've just been told by Adam R, "These things are done in phases" and "it's based on customer requests...whatever gets the most requests" So...start making your requests, or Constant Contact will continue to mark things as "Certified Great Idea" but won't actually DO anything.

This just in from Justin, Customer Engagement Specialist, when I said that Constant Contact's solution for us to add a second registrant to an existing paid registration was a work-around that four years later isn't meeting CC's customers' needs (the solution: to cancel the original registration and re-register, or, to create a fake email address and register the guest seperately):

Justin responded: "This issue in particular is tricky because the program does allow you to do what is being requested per the earlier linked FAQ. While it may not be the most elegant way of adding guests to a paid event registration it works and it is the way the designers intended the task to be done. I understand that you consider this to be a work around and I can see why. But when someone calls in about adding guests manually we send them the FAQs I sent you and they're able to keep moving forward successfully. So this change request isn't seeing a lot of traction. This issue in particular is tricky because the program does allow you to do what is being requested per the earlier linked FAQ. We have an urgent need to have the same people register multiple times for an event. Please allow someone to register more than once. Thanks!

It would be great to have registrants have the ability to use their email to register more than one person.

We get people calling in to register and leaving messages to do so -- but your system will not allow us to manually register someone without an email address.  This means we need to keep dual registration lists -- very user unfriendly and extra work on our part.  Manager should be able to override that requirement.

It also appears that a registrant cannot add an additional guest after they've registered.  Also user and customer unfriendly.

I recognize that your system is email address based, but we actually try to deal with real people.

It would be nice to have multiple day registrations available for one event.

You have to make it possible for one person to purchase tickets more than one time.  Once they've used their email address to purchase tickets, they can't go back in to order/pay for more.

Just to post similar to what the above folks have posted - we frequently get people who want to add guests after they have registered but have only one email. They usually call or email - frustrated with the limitations of our system - and then I have to manually add their guests.  Or we have people who we would like to comp.  I have to change the event to pay at the door and then register them and then change the event back to credit card only.

We use to use a straight form system and I like using Constant Contact because we can automatically close events based on date or # of registrations but we had less frustration from our members with our old system.

Please consider additional modifications to CC Events

I need someone to be able to register for an event muliple times with same email address

We have many camps that need to have one email to sign up multiple times. This is a great need in our business, because we are really looking to simplify the registration. Is there anyway to add this? I have looked online and know that many of your customers have had the same complaint. Why not add it, I know that it might get confusing if someone registers twice for the same person, but as a customer we are monitoring our registration and would know if someone did that. But it would be really helpful if this was an option. Thanks!

It is ridiculous to allow one email address to only register for an event one time. I saw forums online discussing this problem in 2014 (https://community.constantcontact.com/t5/Other-Campaign-Experience/Need-for-one-email-to-be-able-to-...). One use for Event Spot is for us to register requests from teachers for our staff to conduct educational programs in their classroom. We offer ten different programs and want them to be able to request more than one per school year. I contacted chat support and she suggested to make one event for each program. If I do this then I have 10 different "events" to create and track and that is really inconvenient. I don't see why your system cannot be changed to allow an email to register more than once for the same "event". If it is an issue with people accidentally registering more than once, it would be easy for the organizer to see that and delete multiple copies. This would be much easier than for me to create 10 different campaigns every school year. Can you create an option for us to choose whether to allow duplicates? Will something like this be offered in the future? If not, we will need to seriously reconsider keeping our Constant Contact subscription. Thank you.
