Would like Birthday emails

Would like Birthday emails

Can you please add a way where we can enter contacts' birthdays and have a birthday email automatically go out to them on their birthdays? Or at least create a way where we can send out birthday messages simply without having to create a custom list for each day?

Hi Stuart,

I'm sorry that you're finding this to be a more difficult process. I hope these 2 tips listed below help:

  1. When on the Contacts page, you can click on the + sign next to Email Lists on the left and create a new list for every month or
  2. You can add tags to each person based on their month date (you can do this via import or manually).

Then you can either send a monthly email to a birthday month list or you can filter a tag during a send to a different list.

Here is some information on how you can use tags.

I hope this helps!

Please please please add a birthday or special day feature so that we can input special days and they are automatically sent to clients. This is very important otherwise I will cancel my membership. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this feedback, Lorie! This is a great idea for the future.

So here's how I did it, and it worked out pretty well. What I wanted to do was to send out birthday emails every week to customers who have a birthday within that week. I had a DOB field for my contacts, but apparently you can't search/ select from this field because it is a 'date' field, not a 'text' field. SUPER MEGA annoying btw! So here's what I did. Export your contacts to an excel file. Open that up and add three fields next to your DOB field. I named mine, "Birth Day", "Birth Month", and "Birth Year". This next part is a little tricky. Under "Birth Day", type =text(F2,"D"). Where F2 is the original DOB field. You want to pull from that DOB field and just get one number, the D (day) field. Same thing goes for month and year. Type =text(F2,"M") and =text(F2,"YYYY"). That will get your three separate fields. Now on constant contact, go to my settings and under contact settings click on manage my custom fields. Add the three fields, birth day, month, and year. This way you can use the advanced search feature to search for whatever day/month/year you need. Now you can upload your new list to constant contact. Making sure to match up the fields correctly. And just before you upload them you might want to click the button that says you just want to update contacts, not to add any new ones. The only problem I ran into was the limited file size when uploading. I guess it's 1.3MB for .csv. I had to break my list up into two parts to get it done. But now when I want to send a birthday email, I just advance search whatever month/day/year I'm looking for, tag them (you might have to do each day separately), and then send the email to the tags. So ya, it takes a little bit of work, but a lot less work for me than what I was doing. Hopefully this helped in any way.

Birthday feature is a major issue with our online business, headache to work-around CC not having the feature. When/if we switch email marketing providers the birthday feature will be a top three reason. At least add a birthday field to customer signup, standardize the search for us, and yes already have a custom field but their are several ways a customer can enter their birthday - Apr-1, Apr, 1, Apr 1, 4/1, 4-1 - headache.

Hi Brian.

I understand that the birthday feature with Constant Cotnact can be a little troublesome as it is now. I'm sorry about that. We are always working on improving things. If you could please leave your feedback in our Contact Management and Reporting Feedback area I think that this idea would be very popular. I know that other customers have wanted to see this functionality as well.

Also, I know this is not a solution, but you could make your Custom Field, Birthday - Please enter 00/00/0000: That way customers will see that's how it should be being entered. That might be a temporary work around until this feature hopefully gets added. However, I definitely suggest you leave your feedback.

Thank you so much!

I'd like to see a new feature: The ability to set up one campaign that will send out birthday cards to all contacts (that have birth dates entered) on their birthday. 1. I update all records to include birth dates 2. I set up one campaign that says, "when birth date = today's date, send the email to that one contact" Would be very cool, very powerful, not to mention keeping me at Constant Contact and not having to use another service for this. Thanks, Stephen M. (Removed By Moderator)

PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

I would love to add birthdates in for all of my contacts and create a birthday autoresponder e-mail that automatically sends the e-mail to each person on their birthday.

Hello, Every month we construct a birthday email for our contacts. I have made an email list for each month and every time that month comes around I search in the Advanced Search section for "Birthday Starts With #" so I can add all of the people within that birthday month who have joined our database this year. The one problem comes in January....The only option that works in this case is "Starts With" and when you search the number "1" for January, October, November and December also come up because each of those months also starts with 1. On top of that you cannot conduct a search that allows you to separate those people which makes you have to click on everyone's individual profile top check what there birthday is which I do not have time to do. Please let me know what you think

Hi,

As with most other clients of Constant Contact, our company would like to start a Birthday Club program.

It should motivate you to know that **Removed By Moderator**

Also, there are private companies offering this service (using terrible templates), but we believe that you can do better.

Please make this happen ASAP as we are rooting for you!

Thanks.

Is there any possibility that you all would consider offering a reminder service for your members to be sent out for birthdays and anniversarys?

Irene,

This request is years old.

There is a goods reason for them not enabling it apparently, but its not obvious.

I've enabled it on a monthly basis for my clients that want this , but its still manual.   UGH.

Hi Irene and Tony,

Thanks for the feedback on this feature. This is actually something coming very soon. Unfortunately I can't give a date as we could always run into unexpected circumstances but we will keep you updated with details as soon as possible.

Dear Sir / Madame, We would like to ask you if it is possible to automate the process of sending of Birthday e-mails? Every week we have to send a plenty amount of congratulations, at the moment we do it manually. But what if we will add the date of birth in every contact profile, would it be possible then to set up the automatically sending of birthday greetings?

Worked perfectly! Thanks for doing the leg-work!

It's a little silly that Constant Contact doesn't already have this built in.

Any progress yet on the ability to send emails scheduled for either birthday or the month of their birthday?  Its the only reason I cancelled years back and moved to other software but I reall miss all your other great features and want to return as soon as its available.  Please let me know if there are any plans for the near future for this to be added? Thanks! - Ryan

Hey @Larrys2

Great question. We do plan on rolling out an update very soon for some accounts that will make scheduling emails based on birth date much easier! We don't have an exact date quite yet but I can certainly have you notified once this has been implemented.

So every one of your competitors offers an easy Birthday email solution and according to your Forums your developers have been "considering" this feature since 2011, and it has been asked for by more than 100 users (at least) and it is still in "development" with no specific release date?

Please, please, please listen to your loyal customers and roll out this long overdue feature ASAP!

Thanks for posting. I definitely understand where you're coming from. This feature is currently in the process of being implemented for a future release and I can certainly have you notified when this happens if you would like.

After some searching on the boards it seems like this is a topic that comes up over and over again... we would like to send out an e-mail on people's birthdays - and have it automated to go out annually to these individuals.

The most recent thread I can find on this was from 11/2014 had the response from a moderator that "this feature is coming very soon!" Unfortunately, there are posts from 2011/2012 that say similar things. Can you please provide any insight as to when this might be added? At this point I've begun researching competitors that can offer this, but I do love Constant Contact and would like to stay - I just need to have an idea of when we can expect this feature.

Thanks,

I love having the date fields. The anniversary helps me track expiry dates for membership. The birthday field would be more useful for me if it had the year as well. I would use this for the date they joined our group. Not sure why you would leave the year out of this?
