Hello folks -- It can't be true that all our campaigns are opened 97% on desktop. Please look into fixing your sniffer-tracker

Hello @LauraF366 ,

While a significant difference in desktop vs. mobile opens can be a result of an account's contacts demographics or even their industry, this may not always be the case. Mobile opens/clicks can sometimes be manipulated by the receiving network or email client/app's privacy functionalities, such as Apple's privacy protection.

It is something our devs are keeping an eye on, however we're ultimately beholden to what Apple, other email clients, and networks allow to be reported back to us for opens, clicks, etc.

I see we're not the only ones with unrealistic 90%+ desktop metrics...

I know we have a fairly high percentage of iPhone users, maybe some of these other folks do as well, and Apple's privacy settings are skewing results for all of us? If there's any testing we can do, or any way to help, let me know.

There isn't really, short of asking all of your contacts exactly what devices they're using to open your emails. And even then, all that will do is inform you which of your contacts is likely giving the skewed data.

If your contacts are on a corporate or government domain, you'd also need to consider any security bots their networks may be using to check incoming emails (see this thread for additional insight and relevant articles).

Okay, then, I'm curious... how can other entities purport to measure the difference?

"Mobile clients account for 41.6% of email opens, webmail opens at 40.6%, and desktop opens at 16.2%. (Source: Litmus)"

Significantly different ways of pulling that info, and they track overall email traffic as reported to them by other sources. We are not Litmus support, and we do not track overall email traffic, so our ability to provide you any insight on their system is going to be limited. If you want further insight on their system, I'd advise asking their support.
