Recommended for Removal is confusing

Recommended for Removal is confusing

Please remove RECOMMENDED FOR REMOVAL as the DEFAULT category for displayed bounces. If you need a default, it should be ALL BOUNCES. It is a HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME when I have to go back to selecting ALL BOUNCES. All bounces are of concern to me, not just the ones YOU think I should be concerned about. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!! Thanks.

After sending an email, I want to review and manage bounced list. I need to look at engagement to detrmine whether to delete. I click their name, check engagement, then have to click "go back" and end up not in the bounced list but in the clicked or sent list. A pop up that shows engagement would be great so I can make my changes easily. Or is there another way to do this?

Several customers have called me to say they aren't getting my emails. I realize I have a bounced report as I just spoke with customer service. I found out that almost a year ago you turned off her email. I am paying to have emails sent. If you get bounces back for some reason, I understand however, if you decided to unilaterally block an address, then you need to send me something to say you are doing so. It is a waste of my time to have to look at my bounced list every week and then spend my time on the phone to find out what the problem is only to find out you decided not to email them anymore. I completely understand you deciding not to email someone anymore after several bounces however, if you decide to stop emailing them, then I should be told you are doing so.

but only three names are listed. I would like to remove all bounced addresses.

Thank you for your feedback, Cynthia.  You are navigating through the system and viewing engagement activity correctly.  If you would like to see this change, please continue to vote for this idea.

If you have any other questions or feedback, don't hesitate to provide it to us!

Thank you for the feedback about the bounce report and our policy on mailing to addresses that continuously bounce.  We are gathering information about what sort of reports customers would like to have via email, and I have added you suggestion.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other feedback about our products and services.  Keep voting for ideas you agree with, this helps us know what we can do that will help improve your experience!

Hi Ruth,

Towrds the top right of the bounces page, where you are seeing three contacts, there is a drop-down. By default, the system shows the first category of bounces "Recommended for Removal." Click that drop-down and you can choose to view all categories if you like.

Thanks for posting your feedback. Please let us know if you have any other suggestions.

Adding new contacts is more confusing now and I still can't figure out how to add more than one.

How do I view the bounced emails and then delete them from the list?

this happens each sending for various reports.

My report says I have 25 bounces but when I click on the list only 15 bounces appear. How do I access the additional 10 bounces?
CTCT Employee

Thank you for reaching out to us, Rochelle!

I wanted to give a suggestion on why you may only be seeing part of the bounced email addresses.  When you log in to the account, click on the Email tab, choose Reports and then choose to view Bounces it defaults to showing you only the "recommended for removal" bounced email addresses.  If you want to change this view to view "all bounce types" click on the drop down menu in the top right corner of the list of bounced email addresses.

View the picture below:

If this is not the case please reach back out to us and let us know.  We would be happy to take a look at your account with you!

Please continue to submit any other feedback or questions you may have!

Only 3 addresses are listed on the Bounce Report, even though it says 7 were bounced. How do I know who got the email?

Hi Anne,

It sounds like you might be viewing only the bounces that are recommened for removal. You can use the drop down on the right of your bounce list to control your view,.

CC's last update really changed the process for list management and in my case clearing Bounces. The process use to not be perfect but feels like a dream compared to the current process. You could open up individual contacts in new tabs to look at their history and then determine if they should be removed. Then I could go back to my tab with the whole bounce list and select and remove those users. Now you cant open those tabs and have to open each one, one by one and click the back button and remove them and takes 10x as long to manage a list. If I want to view the list of all bounces vs just the recommended ones I have to select that option every single time. It is pretty ridiculous.

Byron, I wanted to let you know that I have sent your feedback to our engineers. We value your opinions and want to make sure that it works the way you need it to. What you might do for the time being is login to your account using 2 browsers; use one screen to navigate the contacts, and the other to navigate the bounces. We will work to get your feedback implemented as quickly as we can! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. The support team can be reached at 855-229-5506 when you're ready.

Is there a way to remove bounced emails from my contact list?
Occasional Visitor
Not as easy and user friendly as the previous version. I prefer the simplicity of the old bounce reporting and the options of how to manage them. I liked how I could see the breakdown of the bounce reasons at a glance. Also, managing the bounces is cumbersome in the new report. For example: I need to send all non-existent bounced emails to the "Do Not Send" list. I can no longer do that from the bounce screen. Hope this helps. Claire

Hi Joey,

Thank you for supplying your feedback to us. It is very important, and we highly value your opinion.

We will continue to adjust and setup the account to be as user friendly as possible. We do currently still have an ability for you to go in and manage many bounces at once.

Here is an FAQ that will walk you through managing bounces: https://knowledgebase.constantcontact.com/articles/KnowledgeBase/5288-understanding-managing-and-rem...

The main part of this for you to focus on, is to be sure and choose the type of bounce that you are wanting to view, using the "display" drop down in the upper right of the bounce table.

Hi DantonB ,

You can remove bounced email addresses right from the email reporting. Check off any bounced email address that you want to remove and use the "Remove Emails" button in the header.

Thanks!

Hi DeborahF15,

Sorry to hear of your difficulties with the new tool. The bounce reports are under the Email Reports section just like before. Please click Email tab and click Reports on the yellow toolbar. If you're referring to the bounce history per contact, it has now been renamed as "Engagement" and should be on the contact's details when you click on a contact's name.

Thanks!

CTCT Employee

Hi NenaS68,

Sorry as well if you find the new tool confusing. To add more than one, please select "Add Names and Emails" instead of just "Add a Contact" -- this will let you type or paste in several contacts at once. Hope that helps!

CTCT Employee

Hi ,

Thank you for your feedback. In the Email Reports page showing your bounces, there will be a "Display" section on the right side of the table header where you can select which bounce type to display. By default, it will show "Recommended for Removal" but you can click on it to select a different bounce category. Once that displays, you can then click the Export link and it should export only that bounce type for you.

Hope that helps!

At Email >> Reports >> Bounced emails, the default view is "recommended for removal". Default should be "All bounce types", after which I choose for myself what filter I want to use. The current system is particularly annoying after deleting a bad or out-of-date address. Instead of returning me to the list I was working from, it returns me to - you guessed it -- "recommended for removal". Keep it simple, please.

I have the new layout, but none of the headings are in the black field above the contacts, so there's no dropdown menu so I can select manage bounces. Help!

Every time I go to try and take care of my list and bounces, I run into an issue that makes it take so much longer than it used to and such simple errors (such as search lists don't show in alpha order) that I really have to wonder if anyone actually tried this software "upgrade??" out before it's launch.

Thanks for taking a moment to provide this feedback! We want you to be able to use the tools the way you want to, and if that means that you're able to the select the preferences on the bounce page. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you think of anything else that you would like to see.
CTCT Employee

Hi Cindy,

If you're having issues using buttons or features in your account, please try another browser. We have gone in and attempted to replicate the issue inside of your account, and are unable to do so. Keep in mind that you will not see the options become available, until you check off contacts in the list telling the system who you are working with.

Hi Connie, you can find your bounces by going to Email Tab > click on Reports on the yellow toolbar and click the hyperlinked bounce number for the email report you want to view. From there you can view and manage your bounces.

When I view reporting for a specific email that was sent, it shows there was 1 bounce. However, when I click on the number 1 no names, email address, or reason appears as to why it bounced.

The updates to the contact interface is terrible. You've created a ton of manual labor when troubleshooting individual contact history now that there is no centralized management. We are now forced to navigate away from the contact in question and view each email report individually that they may or may not have received.

Bethany, I can see how this would be confusing, but make sure you've selected the "View All Bounce Types" on the bounces screen. If you're looking at only one type, then it wouldn't display the others. Thanks for the feedback! We value your opinion and want to give you the features and tools you want. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any more details or feedback to give us!

your old format was an easier to digest snapshot, and removing non-existent addresses was a snap. Now that I figured out how to find them, group them, and then try to delete them, the list still remains on the page and there is no confirmation that says they were successfully removed.

Here is an FAQ that will walk you through viewing bounces by category: https://knowledgebase.constantcontact.com/articles/KnowledgeBase/5288-understanding-managing-and-rem...

When a bounce is removed from the list, it will remain shown on the bounce report, for historical record keeping. Any contact that have since been removed from the account after bouncing, would show their email address with a line crossing through the middle of the address. Any crossed out email you see like those, represents that the contact was taken out prior to being recorded on the report you are viewing.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback about the new Contacts page Kathy!  I believe you may be looking at only one category of bounces, if you change the Display in the top right to "All Bounce Types" you should see all 3.

Hi Max,

Thank you for supplying your feedback to us. It is very important, and we highly value your opinion.

Currently when viewing your bounces, you will first see a category within the bounce report called "Recommended for Removal". These are a portion of all of your bounces, that the system has been able to identify that are better to remove than others. You can easily switch between the different bounce types, using the "Display" drop down in the upper right corner of the table. Here is also an FAQ that will show a screen shot of the drop down, and how you can switch that to display what you would like: https://knowledgebase.constantcontact.com/articles/KnowledgeBase/5288-understanding-managing-and-rem...

We will take a closer look at that process and see what can be done to call more attention to that fact that you first are seeing the "recommended for removal" category. Please don't hesitate to let us know any time you have questions, more information, or any feedback to give us! Don't forget, you can call our support team seven days a week at 866-289-2101.

Getting the other reason on my bounce report and having to view each type of filtered report is so very annoying and more time consuming doing it that way. We keep track of the reasons for the bounces in our customer database so we need this report to be accurate and functioning as it's supposed to be.

I get reports showing I have 12 or 14 etc bounces and when I click to view I am only allowed to see 4 or 5 email address. I am not being allowed to view the entire report? Am I doing something wrong? I don't see any other button to click on to view additional information.

Mike, I am sorry that you weren't seeing all your bounces! We have prioritzed those that are "Recommended for Removal" to display first, but you can change this view to see "All Bounce Types" using the menu at the top of your bounce list. Here is a great article that explains what you're seeing and how you can change it if you would like: Bounces recommended for removal

If you have any questions or feedback about this, please don't hesitate to call us at 855-229-5506 when you're ready!

The new format to move bounces is cumbersome. The old system was so much better.

We need one list of ALL bounces recommended for removal with the bounce reason.

I follow the directions for managing bounces but the report will not download. It just runs and runs. This used to be SO easy! What can I do to speed up this process?  I have over 1000 bounces.  Does that make a difference in how this should work?

Advisor

Hello Steve,

I just had a chance to take a look at your account and was able to look into your activity and I do see a bounce report was exported for over 1000 contacts. Can you tell me if you are still having a problem exporting the bounce messages? If so can you walk me through the process so that I can try to replicate the trouble that you are currently having.

I really dislike the updates you have made. It is so much more cumbersome now. Adding contacts to lists - I used to be able to submit and then fix any invalid emails. Now, I have to scroll endlessly, find one, fix it and get bumped to the bottom of the list and have to scroll, find my place and repeat the painful process. The create list name piece at the end is klugy, often creating the list with the wrong name before I am done typing. I can't see any detail on bounce-backs. Was their mailbox full, bad email address, server rejected as spam. Just Email was not delivered. Not helpful at all when a customer calls complaining that she isn't getting our emails. Please roll-back the updates to the interface and return it to a more user-friendly state.
