Currently, in our Third Generation Editor we do not allow access to edit the HTML and have no immediate plans to do so. We want to provide our customers with the abilities to be able to use a user-friendly interface instead of having to rely on a code view to get their desired results. With all the feedback we have been collecting we are planning on making improvements to padding and adding some line spacing elements in the UI. I know this doesn’t solve all use cases, such as adding tables, but we will continue to make strides towards improving the editor.
I understand allowing HTML would increase the ability for more control of your content but it can also have a negative impact on your newsletter’s display in email clients. If we provide access to HTML for every block, changing some of the default styles or content could break display when sent to an email client. Also being able to manually adjust width could have a negative effect. We have a team of amazing engineers constantly testing our templates in all email clients, so you can be certain your email displays consistently across the board. With that in mind, we want to make sure we make it easy to provide the best look and feel not only on the desktop but on mobile. With a majority of opens now leaning towards mobile over desktop we take that as a priority.
Please continue to let us know your thoughts on HTML and what exactly you're trying to do so even if we don't have HTML access we will be able to give you the tools to get your desired outcome.

Thank you for sharing the solution to the social icon issue. But I often need to tweak the HTML to correct font and other sticky formatting issues that arise. My HTML ability is up to tweaking, but not creating the whole message in HTML. So if this capability isn't restored if/when we are forced to move to the new interface, my organization will be moving to another vendor -- after at least 15 years of 1-4 messages per week! After posting my original message I researched more on your forum, and find that I have quite alot of company in asking for restoration of the ability to see/edit the HTML of a message that was created within a template using your WYSIWYG editor. BTW, I work with many programs, and have never seen a WYSIWYG editor that doesn't allow you to toggle to HTML view. I hope your company will give serious consideration to bringing it back.

We converted to 3rd gen today specifically for the tag functionality. I have been very excited about the ability to "narrow down" lists with the tags etc.. Unfortunately, without the ability to edit in html and or use custom art with exact dimensions...heck, I can't even create a table with 4 columns. I assumed that the next generation of editors would at least have the functionality of the previous editor. I am going to have to go back to using the previous editor.

If you would like to continue using our older editor, you can create copies of your previous campaigns and keep on editing from there!
I have to agree with the previous posters. There isn't a single mailing that I do not access the html editor to tweak a color, border or something else. This really seems like "the great leap backwards."

We wanted to create an editor that was both user friendly and allowed you to create emails that display well on mobile devices. For that reason we decided to leave out the code view feature. That said, as you see here, this is a feature that a number of our customer want added back to Constant Contact. We'll be sure to pass along your feedback and let you know if this feature is re-added to our product.
Adding my two cents. I NEED to make some minor tweaks to keep my client's email on brand without having two completely hand write code. Please allow some html code access.

I can definitely understand how beneficial it would be to have the HTML access within the editor. What tweaks exactly are you trying to accomplish via the HTML access? If you would be able to pass along some examples, that would be extremely helpful for the correct team to be able to review.
