Contacts are recognized in Constant Contact by the email address, the same can be said about tracking interactions on an email campaign. If a link is clicked and there is no email address in the account it can't track properly. So i f an email was sent to your list, and then a contact from that list was delete, any clicks would not track at that point since the email address was removed from the account.
