You are correct regarding the lack of HTML tags, and more specifically, the lack of meta tags.
This is an issue with a number of templates, but our engineers are working to correct this as soon as possible.
In the meantime, you can use custom meta tags, via a custom coded email, to specify the content that displays on your timeline. More information can be found here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/usi ng-objects/
