Try performing the following troubleshooting steps, if you're still seeing the issue for your existing form(s):
Go to your My Account page
Under the main account subtab, go down to Other Settings, and click edit.
Change "marketing emails" to just "emails"
Go to the Sign up forms tab in your navigation bar
Open the Inline form and click 'Publish' again OR Deactivate/Reactivate the Inline form. Once this is done, you can change "emails" back to "marketing emails" or anything else you wish to have instead, and it should still fix the "null" issue.
If this is affecting a form that isn't an inline/pop-up type, such as a landing page form, you can still unpublish and republish it to ensure the Step 3 troubleshooting changes are forced through.
