Why do I need to verify an email address if I setup DKIM via cname?

I don't want the reply to address to go anywhere so it is not valid from my perspective.  No way I want hundreds of responses to come back to a valid email address. I specifically say go here or click this link, do not reply....

In order for an email address to be utilized on an account, it needs to be verified first as a Compliance and anti-spam/scam measure. For more info regarding account email verifications, please see the main article. If you have further questions regarding Compliance requirements for accounts, I'd advise speaking with the Review/Delivery team directly.
