Please work to support foreign characters. Chinese audience is a sizeable chunk of business and for such a large email management tool it is strange that you cannot support it. thanks.
We are considering this idea to be implemented. Most of these comments were due to the limited support to foreign characters in our legacy editor. With the retirement of that editor, we no longer really have issues with supporting the characters mentioned here. Non-English languages, em dashes, curly quotes, etc. are all displayed as expected. One exception to that may be right to left languages which could run into some alignment issues.
Agreed. Placing two spaces after each other to fake increased word spacing (as kerning and tracking controls are missing - not surprising though as HTML lacks controls for these too) also gets replaced with a single space.
I can hardly believe you released a new "editor" and still have not made provision for em and en dashes. I can understand not providing every special character known to humankind, but em and en dashes are essential.
Your competitors have no problem with accepting html coding for these characters, so it can't be all that hard to do.
I have had people ask me why I don't use em dashes in my emails...and I have to say that the Constant Contact editor doesn't support them. I'm embarrassed that people think I don't know better. Please allow em and en dashes, as well as other common symbols (trademark, registered trademark, copyright).
I want to add my voice to those calling for supporting m-dashes and other extended ASCII characters in Constant Contact. These are standard characters and widely used in email and other communications. The HTML work-around is time-consuming and inconvenient.
What html work-around? I have yet to hear of one. None of the html codes for em dash that I am aware of will work in CC even if you DO go into the code window (which they aren't gonna let us do any more anyway).
In Canada, many words and phrases come from the French and appropriate accents are expected.. like the word resume (has different meanings for programmers or job hunters if the accent is not there)
Also, it definitely looks like spam to any of my recipients servers with characters like this in the subject line. Really bad. Also, I do not see how to edit my already posted feedback. In being annoyed here, I mispelled Constant Contact.
@SabrinaK203 I apologize that you have been experiencing an issue with your subject lines. Those characters should be supported. Do you type the subject line in directly or do you sometimes copy and paste it from another source? Do you notice it happens in some cases and not others? Would you be able to provide me specific examples of subject lines you have used in the past that have not displayed correctly so I can do some additional testing?
