I created an email using card/announcement and when I tried to add "forward to a friend", "join my mailing list" and permission reminder" I was not able. I would like to have the ability to use these functions in future emails that I create.
Hi everyone! I am following up to the forward to friend feature request. Thank you for your patience as we looked into this! The good news is we have received word from our engineers that feature is now available in our cross device templates under the social share block. If anyone has any additional questions on this, please don’t hesitate to respond to this post as we would be happy to assist you further.
Hello @dorism11. Thanks for your feedback about the Forward to a Friend feature. I can certainly see how this could be a useful tool for you. Our Product team is still researching and looking into this but I will certainly submit your request over to that team and will have them contact you if there is any update.
I am adding to the list of the voices requesting this feature to be added back in.
Here's my rationalle: people may use their own email's forwarding feature, but then the recipient would not have an easy way to subscribe to our emails themselves. The only current solution would be to add a subscribe button to the original email. But this doesn't make sense either.
Thank you for providing feedback on this feature. Based on your rationale I can understand why this would be helpful. I have tracked the feedback in your account for our developers to see.
The new 3rd Generation Editor (3GE) is missing so many functions and seems to be more challenging (after upgrading from 2nd - 3rd gen.) to work with your tools. By removing this "Forward to a Friend" option, we will not be able to present our emails to our customers offering them a discount to them and their friends properly. This is a function we've been using for some time and it works.
We also lost the ability to use the HTML button where we use the block set up and tweak the minor design changes AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY. This is also hindered our flexibilty to design good emails. Now we don't have complete control like we did before. At this point I would rather go back to the 2nd generation editor...
In addition, when we call and email, no one ever gets back to us. I had to send 3 emails last time for someone to reply. Very disappointing service.
I would also like to point out, if others have no already done so, that we actually may be losing subscribers. When a FORWARD TO A FRIEND option is not available, a person may use the Forward tab in the nav bar of their browser. That person doesn't know they received it and they Unsubscribe.
Truly a service would be done for your customers by adding FORWARD TO A FRIEND back in.
Can you please add a "Forward to a friend" link at the bottom of your new generation editor? Also, the previous one made it so you had to type in each email separately. This is tedious if you have several emails you would like to forward. Can you make a field where someone could copy and paste several emails at once?
Hello @MonicaL00. Thank you for the feedback about our Forward to a Friend feature. While the feature is not currently on the roadmap to be brought back in our third-generation editor, our Product team is looking into different ways to have your emails be forwarded without disrupting the layout and prevent accidental unsubscribes.
Also, in regards to not having access to the HTML in the third-generation editor, can I ask what design changes you were looking to make when creating your emails? I want to see if there is a way that we can still make these changes in your email. I did want to let you know that you can still make copies of any emails created using our second-generation editor and you will have access to that editor.
For Forward to a Friend: It would be helpful to use that link that becomes available after the email sends - ie. "Email Link: http://conta(dot)cc/123abc..."
For the need of the HTML Button: 1. Font size - your sizes are not in succession. If I'm making font sizes, it would be easier to have more choices. Your sizes typically jump and I like to be able to use any size font ~ hence the need for the HTML Button. They do not include 13pts - 11, 12, 14... = I would typically adjust the size to suit my custom needs, whether it be 13 or 3.
I reached out via email and received this 3 days later: "Now to address your points specifically and what can be done. The fonts sizes are currently limited to the choices on the drop down. In order to decrease the white space between blocks (the editor is designed such that a center aligned image should stand alone) you can right click the image and check off the padding..."
2. image alignment: There is no center alignment to the image when I drag it into a text block = only left or right. And can’t insert text in the same block under an image (as i did previously in gen-2 editor). It separates them. Then the text is too far away from the image.
3. padding and margins: Too big/bulky in some blocks and I can not decrease it manually.
* How will I get access to the 2nd Generation Editor?
Thank you for the feedback! I completely understand the need for these features so I'll be sure to pass your ideas along to the appropriate channel. I'd like to share an article that might assist as far as placement of images. See guide: Moving from the Second-Generation Editor to the Third-Generation Editor.
There is now a feature to align images as well, including center align.
At this time now, the way to access the 2nd generation editor is to make a copy of an email that was originally created with that editor. You would be able to access it with a new template, as they are formatted to be edited only with the 3rd generation editor.
Please let us know if there is any other way we can help!
The updated Constant Contact templates eliminates the ability to include "Forward to a Friend." I recently paid for a Premium Template, and with that we still can't include "Forward to a Friend" with our emails. That was a helpful tool for us, and we'd like to see it added by in your system asap. That is lost opportunity for brands to be able to grow their audience via their current audience. I can only say that offers this capability, and if we can't get it back, it's possible over the next year we will consider moving our account to .
