It's frustrating that I only have one welcome message. I'm running a campaign to download an e-book, but they won't get an immediate email with the download link. And I don't want everyone who signs up for my newsletter to get the e-book only a very specific list. Without this ability the Autoresponder feature is not fully built out.
we need **Multiple Different* welcome e-mails, or *immediate* AutoResponder emails
You (Constant Contact) currently only allow ONE single Welcome e-mail. This is a problem for your customers (like me) that have MULTIPLE e-mail lists of people with multiple DIFFERENT interests.
I do NOT want to send the same welcome e-mail to people who sign up on totally different lists. It would make no sense to do that.
So, I am forced to choose between:
1) sending an e-mail that would appeal to the majority of the lists (risking alienating those with interests in the minority), OR...
2) I can just send a ridiculously bland, generic welcome e-mail to everyone saying, "Hi, this is to acknowledge that you signed up for a list but I can tell you what list or interest area you signed up for since Constant Contact will only let me send the one same welcome e-mail to everybody." OR....
3) I could turn OFF welcome emails totally, so that NOBODY gets a "welcome e-mail. And then I would ONLY send out to my lists using AutoResponder. That approach would work best for keeping a targeted/specific message to each of the individual lists. BUT... the downside is that Constant Contact will not start sending them AutoResponder e-mails until a day after people sign-up.. This delay is a problem. In our inpatient Internet age, when people sign up and provide their e-mail address to a professional website they expect an acknowledgment/welcome e-mail within minutes, not days! The business world is fast moving. If I have a potential customer interested in buying my goods or services today, I definitely do NOT want to wait until tomorrow to start sending them e-mails! By then, they may have surfed the Internet some more and found a person/company other than me to provide them with the goods/services that they were trying to sign up for with me.
SOLUTIONS:
1) Allow different, individualized welcome e-mails for each different list.
2) Allowed the AutoResponder emails to beginning immediately (not having to wait until the next day) for those Constant Contact customers who have their "welcome email" turned off.

I have set up several auto responders with the first email being a welcoming email... currently there does not appear to be a way to have the welcoming email go out immediately... I am advised it has a delay of up to 24 hours... can an "upon sign up" scheduling option be made available?
I totally agree. I tried constant contact just for an autorespond to offer a free pdf. If this won't send it out immediately, I need to move on to another program
Hi! I get so frustrated that there is only one welcome email that goes out no matter what list they subscribed to... The autoresponder can't send out on the same day, so I have one generic welcome email and then they have to wait until "day 1" (the next day) before getting their first email specific to the list they signed up for. Any plans for a change?
Thanks for this feedback. At this time there is no way to make the AR email send earlier but this is something coming in the future! Please continue to share your feedback on features you would like to see implemented.
