There's something so nice about walking through the grass barefoot on a nice, warm day. And I’m not the only one who thinks so: It’s National Go Barefoot Day on June 1st!


There are so many beautiful things to celebrate in June that it takes a whole month to do it!


That’s why I’ve compiled this HUGE list of June holidays and newsletter ideas. I’ve even thrown in some June subject line ideas for good measure!

June is a month full of beauty and growth. So let’s start there.


Newsletters for gardening


Gardening is a fairly popular activity that takes off in June. Help it become part of your readers’ lives with these June newsletter tips.


  • Be a reliable resource. Share gardening tips and tricks. From making it easy, getting a better harvest, or keeping the bugs away, give your readers something they can use to make their time in the garden more productive.
  • Make a positive impact on your community. Partner with your local community to start a neighborhood garden and let your readers know your plans and how they can get involved.
  • Be relatable. Share a story about your own garden, one your team is starting, one that supplies your business, or even a local gardener that’s giving back. And give your readers something to feel good about.


Newsletters for Father’s Day


While last month was all about the moms of the world, this month has really gone to the dads.


And, just like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day isn’t just for those who raise human children – furbabies count as well.


This Father’s Day, create an email campaign that makes a strong impact on you and your subscribers with these newsletter ideas:


  • Provide an offer they can’t refuse. It doesn’t matter if your demographic is filled with dads or single moms. Share a discount code or special offer your readers can use or share with the dads in their lives.
  • Build relatable. Tell a story about something great your dad did for you. Then share it on Facebook and encourage your readers and followers to do the same.
  • Build relationships by sharing a laugh. If it fits your brand and your audience, share some “dad jokes” with your readers. Better yet, create a short video of your employees telling their best “dad jokes,” house it on your YouTube page or website and create a video email.
  • Be a reliable resource. If you’re a dad, share an article, website, or social media channel that you’ve found particularly helpful over the years. Be sure to let your readers know why you like it and why you’re sharing it with them, then link to the source.


Newsletters for month-long designations


It’s time to wander through the Perennial Gardening Month and take Pride Month in your Caribbean-American Heritage Month. Go National Camping Month. Visit the National Oceans Month, the National Rivers Month,  or even the National Zoo and Aquarium[s] Month. Just don’t forget to stop and smell the National Rose[s] Month.


Most of all, stay National Safety Month by being aware of things like Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, Cataract Awareness Month, National PTSD Awareness Month, and National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month


And take care of yourself by eating your National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month and chasing it down with a nice cold glass of National Iced Tea Month.


While that was a fun way to introduce some of the designations for the month of June you can see how difficult it is to highlight more than one event, awareness, or designation in a single newsletter. So, pick a cause, occasion, or moment in time that resonates with your business, employees, or community, and bring it to light in your June newsletter. Then,


  • Share some statistics for the cause and encourage your readers to spread the word, volunteer, or donate to help out.
  • Spread the word beyond your readers by asking a question in your newsletter and directing them to your social media page for the answer. Then use the month of social posts to continue the conversation with Q&As.
  • Collaborate with other businesses and organizations in your community to spread awareness or raise funds. Then share what you’re doing with your readers and let them know how they can get involved.


TIP: Whatever holiday you highlight in your newsletter this month, whether you issue a challenge, offer advice, or ask your readers to share, include a branded hashtag and a custom hashtag — along with a corresponding post on social media — so you can easily find and like what they post!


June newsletter subject line ideas


  • “Don’t be a Grouch…” — Oscar the Grouch Day (June 1st)
  • “Got Milk? Now you will!” — World Milk Day (June 1st) If you run a bakery, this is great for doing a promotion to discount or give away a small carton or glass of milk with the purchase of cookies. I know I’d come in for that!
  • “We’re stuck on repeat” — Repeat Day (June 3rd) Great for repeating a past promotion that was particularly successful.
  • “Be kind. Rewind” — Preheader: “Come back for this great deal!” National VCR Day (June 7th). This is great for getting customers to come back into your brick-in-mortar location.
  • “Go Crazy!” — Prince’s Birthday (June 7th). Use it for driving some excitement for this month’s event or promotion.
  • “We’re not jerking you around” — National Jerky Day (June 12th). Then again, if you’re in the jerky business, try it without the “not” and add the preheader: “in a good way.”
  • “Call your doctor” – Preheader: “Because this is worth sharing” National Call Your Doctor Day (June 14th).
  • “Relax. Unwind. Take a Bath.” — International Bath Day (June 14th). Great for gift shops that carry bath accessories.
  • “Don’t just take a bath. Bathe. “ — International Bath Day (June 14th). When you want to talk about luxury bath accessories — from bath oils to bathroom remodels.
  • “Want some fudge?” — National Fudge Day (June 16th). Great for giving away fudge samples or sharing a fudge recipe and video on how to make it.
  • “Fudge it” — National Fudge Day (June 16th). The punctuation alone will change the tone.
  • “Take back your lunch break!” — National Take Back the Lunch Break Day (third Friday). Whether you run a restaurant, a delivery service, or even a yoga studio, this is a great time to encourage remote workers to take back their lunch breaks.
  • “Can you hear the music?” — World Music Day (June 21st). If your business has anything to do with music, don’t miss out on this day!
  • "Hey Jude! We'll make it better!" - Global Beatles Day (June 25th). Really, you could use any well-known Beatles lyric that can be aligned with your business. Combine this with World Music Day (June 21st), and you’ve got a well-tuned newsletter.
