Collect personal information through survey page

We will need to find another platform since you changed the survey tool. Missing:

Rate items on a scale
Skip question logic
Allow users to enter a comment
Contact block questions (collecting respondent information) w/ options to add to contact list or not)
Long text answers (500 limit current, compared to old 1000 character limit)
Landing / Closing pages

Hi @Dholloway  thank you for sharing this feedback with us! All of the ideas you have mentioned are feature requests we are currently collecting feedback on. Because of this we have opened up your idea so other users can weigh in as well.

Hi @Dholloway we wanted to share some follow-up information with you on these requests. The good news is the option to rank answers either in order or on a scale is now available. We also have active feature request threads for having the ability to include skip logicallow users to enter a comment, and edit the closing Thank You page. In fact we would recommend commenting or voting on these threads directly so your feedback is stored in the proper place. As for the character limit on open ended questions, what are some cases where you would need more than a 500 character limit?

I'm using the new survey editor for the first time. I can't seem to find a way to ask people to give me their email address/contact info like we used to be able to do. I need to be able to require contact info or my survey is moot. Can this please be added ASAP?

We have been using the legacy survey for a while now and we are sad not to see some functions on the new survey creation tools. The missing progress bar and page breaks - this was helpful to break up our survey in sections when we do the end-of-the-year surveys. Skip Logic - this was also helpful if a customer answered yes to bring them to a follow-up question and if no we directed them to the next important question so they would not have to scroll past the questions that didn't pertain to them. The ratings on a scale - the legacy version has a section you could say. "How would you rate the following statements..." and then under you could have multiple questions and only have one set of scale ratings (also the word you place in the scale rankings didn't get cut in odd sports like the new version). I also would love to see a drop-down box for the survey so customers can select a name from a drop-down menu to keep things looking neat and to keep scrolling too much.

Using the dividers and spacing blocks will not solve the situation, it just makes the survey look longer. With page breaks the person taking the survey can hit next to go to the next main category of the survey. For our annual survey, it would be since to have 3 separate pages so the survey doesn't feel so long.

Since 2013 we have been posting Legacy Survey links on our website, so anyone can fill them out to request more/future information. If they decide to provide their contact information (which 99% opt to do), they are added to one of our email databases.

Right now, if they fill out one of the “new” surveys, they are unable to opt in for future communication with us. And all responses show up as coming from “Anonymous.”

The "Please include your contact information" section on the Legacy Survey is critical in helping us get requested information to those who ask for it it as well as to grow our database list. Please include it in the new version.

We use the survey page to allow our people to request samples. If there is no way for us to collect their personal information, these become useless to us. Reading through other comments, it seems like this is an important item for many of your users. I'm adding my plea to bring that back!

@FrankieP the 1000 character limit is not critical; 500 would work; but the rest of the things I mentioned are. Thanks.

In the Legacy Surveys, one of the options under Question Type was Collect Personal Information. We use that on our surveys, but I noticed it wasn't an option in the new Survey Pages, so when I created a survey for our event on May 20, I had to use the Legacy Surveys so I could include that. It is very helpful to us, and I would like to have it back in the new system.

All the above - very disappointed and no response from Constant contact

Adam called in to CtCt to give feedback regarding our surveys. Him and his team would like to see more characters be allowed for his audience to give a more detailed response. They would also like to see a more fluid option so that when someone would reply and wishes to give more than a simple "Yes" or "No" that it looks more professional.

Thank you - DJ

Will be looking around for a good alternative to Constant Contact so we can make the switch. Every time CC forces an "upgrade," we lose capabilities instead of gaining important features. First it was eliminating the ability to edit html in emails and now the new survey tool doesn't allow a simple feedback rating -- no ability to have one question to rate several characteristics on an x-point scale with an optional Not Sure/Don't know. I have to make each characteristic a separate question, which makes the survey appear much longer, plus there isn't an option to add a "Don't know/NA". And having to screen grab to get the report of responses in graphic format is ridiculous. Very frustrating!

Bah, I just spent an hour trying to find out how to add the "collect personal information" to one of the new surveys. Our survey is specifically used to gather personal information, but since that isn't possible with the new survey we're going to keep using the legacy one for the short term. If that option disappears before you re-enable this feature, we'll be looking for a new provider.

I agree with the concerns already stated particularly Laura.

We are a professional nursing group and have used this survey as a post event evaluation and test that nurses are required to complete to receive their Attendance Certificate.

We are Professionally required to capture participant demographics (name, address and licensing) in order to provide an attendance certificate which we generate as an email after we receive their responses.

  • From the Contacts list participants are sent an email invitation to take the survey.
  • When the survey and post-test responses are received we send out Certificate emails to qualifying responses.
  • We create a report for the Conference Organizers and Speakers.

The new survey doesn't seem to have these features or flow. When will you close this feature, because we were counting on it for our next event on October 2021.

Hello,

The Legacy Surveys had a section that we can add that asked for contact information and customized questions of those who took the survey. I do not see that feature in the new survey feature. Could you possibly add it to the new program?

Attached is what I am referring to: Capture.PNG

Hi @BetsyL4 thanks for sharing this feedback! Being able to collect personal information through a survey campaign is a feature request we are currently collecting feedback on. In fact we have merged your post into a larger thread focused on this feature.

Thank you, @BetsyL4 for posting the image of what we also need. @Frankie_P, exactly when will the "collecting feedback" portion end and the new (old features from the Legacy Survey format, really) features be instituted in the surveys? As of right now, we cannot use Constant Contact for surveys because they do not collect the personal information that we need. We do these surveys monthly and as of this month (because the copy function for Legacy Surveys has been discontinued), we are totally out of luck here ...  😕   HELP!

We also used this for professional organization in issuing Continuing Education Certificates. Here is what we can no longer do in your "improved" survey feature:

  1. We can no longer automatically send CE Certificates to those who complete the evaluation through a closing page.
  2. There is no longer the ability to have individual sections with headers and a set of questions under that section using the same scale. Each question has to be its own question with its own scale
  3. There is no way to export a filtered summary report, you can only run a full report.
  4. We can no longer run a pdf full report
  5. Comments are no longer included on a summary report. You have to run a full report and extract the information from there and copy over to the summary report

Other things that are unsatisfactory:

  1. The survey appears to be longer now without sections
  2. The nicely formatted colored report is gone so reports are not as easy to read
  3. The entire survey is very vanilla, not professional looking at all
  4. Versatile? How exactly?

After more than 10 years I'm afraid we will need to be looking for a new platform as you simply took away all that was good with your survey. We cannot make useful what you are forcing us use. If you give us the option of keeping the old system and all it's options then we would be happy to stay with CC.

We are the same way.  What program have you found that will work?  We can't keep using constant contact.

Constant Contact, when will this be fixed? You have been "collecting input" for months now.

I have emailed requesting this in February and May and have seen other people request the same thing. The surveys I send are feedback forms from our events, which have 5-6 questions and the final question - THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE IN LEGACY SURVEYS BUT NOT NOW IN SURVEY PAGES - asking for name and contact info, which we label as optional info and which others may use only one or multiple parts of in their surveys.

Currently, it seems the only way I can gather that info in Survey Pages is after the final actual feedback question, create a text box, saying The following information is optional to enter, then create another 4-question survey underneath that asking for First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and Phone Number. This is a passible but time-consuming and inelegant workaround. Is there any plan at all to ever bring back the data block/name and info block/whatever it was called, or is this just another CC disappointment?

Would really like to know when/if this will be added to the survey function as well!

You had a good survey tool, but your new tool isn't up to par.  You'll need to fix this fast.  I have to get a survey out the door today, and it will be a lot faster to switch to Google forms than to search your website for solutions that might not exist.  I'll be using Google today, and if this goes on long enough I might keep using it.

The new survey format is useless. By eliminating the personal information question, the ability to add items under the numerical question format (exp. Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree) forces adding many more individual questions to the survey making it too bulky for participants to want to respond.

If you can't add the old question formats to the new survey, throw the new survey away and allow the older version to continue to be useful.  We use Constant Contact because it is convenient because we use many of your other elements of Constant Contact. We are looking at moving to another survey product because the new survey format can not meet our needs.

I'm building a survey but in the legacy version there was a way to capture personal information (names, etc) - how do you do this now?
Frankie_P

Hi @PaulH82 at this time the is no option to gather personal data from users taking the survey. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause! This is however a feature request we are collecting feedback on. In fact we have merged your post into a larger thread focused on this idea.

Also would like to share my interest in getting a sign up form on the survey tool. You shared an update today. Can you tell us when this will be reviewed an added? I think it would be a good idea to keep customers informed of timelines or at least how many comments and votes are needed to enact.

Do we know if anything is being done to look into fixing the survey feature? It would be nice to know if there is a timeline or if these comments are being looked at and when these fixes might happen. Since these features were all in the legacy version of the survey.

Update: I talked with CC and was told that they will NOT be going back to the legacy features we all used and need. They are sticking with the new "improved" form. Years and years of being a customer mean nothing, sadly we are looking for a new program.

YOU ARE KIDDING ME. The response has been consistent - this new survey is terrible. Well, now I know we will migrate to another platform. Very sad.

MicheleM73037

Yep! Completely ridiculous!!! I even asked if they are considering bringing the old survey back and having both an an option and was told know. I asked even though so many people have responded negatively? She repeated she's sorry for the inconvenience but they are staying with the new tool. 😡

I agree with all the responses above.  The new survey tool is klunky, and the loss of the Legacy survey features is detrimental for our company.  If the Legacy survey doesn't return, we most likely will change platforms.

Constant Contact,  will the old Legacy Survey features be available again? Personal information capture and other features were vital to us. This has been going on for months and we are waiting. Our next event will be January and time is running out. Nothing on your new platform will work for us.

After 11 years on CC, This is very sad the legacy survey tool was excellent, the new tool is useless, now we can't even create a survey, the response exporting used to be very organized and easy to understand, now we don't see that feature, I think its time to look for other tools unless you restore all legacy functions in the new one,

I am running a contest using the new survey pages.  In the legacy version we could collect personal information such as name, email, address, etc.   That feature is no longer available.   Since it's a contest I need that information to fulfill the prizes.

Being able to collect personal data in a survey seems like a basic requirement.   I'm not sure why it has been removed.

I was able to fake it with open survey responses, but it would have been easier if I could have just plugged them in from the options.

Please return this feature.

Thank you
