Increased Character Limit for SMS Campaigns

0 Votes

It would be helpful to be able to manually enter/import contacts from a previous SMS marketing platform. Also, it would be helpful to apply different columns to tags. Also, the character count seems drastically lower than other SMS marketing platforms. I'm hardly able to include text with emojis and images. These are crucial features we appreciate from our previous platform but only made the switch since its easier to have everything in one place and we are able to segment campaigns by tags.

Hi @katumana

Thanks for sharing this feedback with us! Both having a higher character count and having the ability to import SMS contacts are feature requests we are in the process of tracking feedback on. In fact we will be happy

to continue collecting requests and use case examples through this thread. As for collecting

further details and including tags, how would expect tags to be included? Does including contact detail fields on the landing page for your sms campaign help fit your needs?

Yes, that would help tremendously! It would also be nice for them to have the option to "check off" fields that we are able to create, instead of having them type it out.

Hi @katumana

Thanks for following up with us on this! We have re-opened this idea on your behalf. While we 6can't guarantee a commitment to deliver on the idea but want to indicate some awareness that we have heard your feedback and are continuing to collect both requests along with use case examples.

Please. Hugely appreciated.

It would also be helpful if there is one phone number assigned to the organization for TTJ & SMS. So instead of having separate numbers for each feature, it would be nice to have the one number that satisfies each feature.

I recently switched from to Constant Contact. There are more pros than cons when comparing the two. One feature I still need is the Send Time Optimation - the best send time for maximum engagement when scheduling in advance. Thank you very much for considering my request.

As I transition from to Constant Contact, I need the ability to send a single text message even when the character limit exceeds 160. This convenience in Constant Contact's SMS messaging system is a reassuring aspect of the transition.

From SMS Features:

"The number of characters in an SMS determines the number of individual text messages required to complete a send. The type of content you send also impacts the message count. Text messages exceeding a single message's character limit are split into separate or multipart messages, requiring individual SMS credits.

With SMS marketing, you can send two types of SMS: standard message (GSM) and Unicode (non-GSM).

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is a standard character set that uses the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9 with some special characters. Unicode includes a larger range of characters. SMS sent with GSM can contain more characters than messages sent with Unicode.

Standard (GSM)

  • 160 characters per 1 SMS
  • 153 characters for multipart sends (2+ SMS)

Unicode (non-GSM)

  • 70 characters per 1 SMS
  • 67 characters for multipart sends (2+ SMS)

If your SMS requires more than 1 text message to send, it'll automatically send as a multipart message with a different character limit. Modern smartphones reassemble multipart messages so that they appear to be 1 message for your recipients."
