Exporting csv error message: You selected "EMAIL address" for one or more columns of data that ...

I get an error message about email addresses when I am trying to import my Open Office spreadsheet data  which I have saved as a .csv file.   All of the columns (First Name, Last Name, telephone, etc) except 'email address'  are the normal colors, but the email addresses  in the email address column have a darkish grey background - which I think may have occurred  when I selected and copied that list early on. Is that an indication of some thing?
