When I try to add an image to upload on the iOS app, it does not give me a choice to change the albums from which to select the images. There seems to be no way to make the “add images” button actually add any images from the library. Any ideas welcome.

Check the permissions you've set for the app in your Apple device's settings, and make sure you've allowed full gallery / album accessibility. Otherwise, I'd advise deleting the app and the re-installing it to reconfigure its permissions.
