Use Sections to Build Your Email Campaigns

Today, we’re revisiting a tool that has quickly become a "must-use" in our Cross-Device editor: Sections.

Why Sections are a Game-Changer

Before Sections came along, styling your email was a bit of a manual slog. If you wanted a specific background color for a group of blocks, you had to style them individually or hope the layout cooperated.

With Sections, you’re the architect. You can drag text, images, and buttons into a single area and:

  • Style the whole group at once: Apply backgrounds, borders, or padding to the entire section in a couple of clicks.

  • Move everything together: Need that whole promo block higher up? Just drag the section.

  • One-click cleanup: If a concept isn't working, you can delete the entire section rather than hunting down individual blocks.

The New Superpower: Mobile Stacking Control

I really wanted to call attention back to this because we’ve just added a huge update: Mobile Stacking Control.

Have you ever designed a beautiful multi-column layout on desktop, only to have it look a bit "off" on a phone? Now, within your Section settings, you can decide exactly how those columns behave on mobile:

  • No Stack: Keep elements side-by-side (perfect for social icons).

  • Left on Top: The standard flow.

  • Right on Top: Ideal for keeping "Buy Now" buttons or calls-to-action at the very top of the screen when viewed on a smartphone.

Put it to the Test

Our Senior Product Manager, Lauren, has put together some great examples on how to use Sections to create professional-looking layouts in half the time.
