Email Authentication

What are the new authentication requirements for Yahoo! and Gmail?

Both Yahoo! and Google announced they will be tightening up their policies on allowing unauthenticated mail into their systems, a move specifically aimed at reducing spam from bulk senders. This is an industry-wide change and not specific to Constant Contact. While Constant Contact has been authenticating our customers’ mail for over 10 years, these recent changes mean a few more steps may be necessary to ensure deliverability.  These changes went into effect Feb 2024.

I send email from my own domain that I control

The best option for you will be to set up self-authentication within Constant Contact and then add the DNS records we generate for you.

I send from my organization's domain

Contact your IT or mail server group to enable DKIM signing for Constant Contact in your outbound email. If they can update DNS records, opt for self-authentication.

I own my own domain, but not currently emailing

Contact your IT or mail server group to set up organization domain email and enable Constant Contact to DKIM sign your email.

I send from a free webmail or my local ISP provider

Since you’re sending from a domain that you’re not able to set up authentication for, Constant Contact has you covered!
