New Contact Importer UI Missing Upload Status Notification?

I upload a list of contacts usually 5 days a week. We have a very large customer base so it is very common to see the upload status report indicate a handful of contacts that were unable to be updated due to previously having unsubscribed. This was mainly important because one of our two daily lists is much shorter than the other, and it's not uncommon for the list to be blank after import due to all the contacts having previously unsubscribed.

This morning, I found the contact importer UI to be highly revamped. At the end of the process, the notification regarding contact uploads seems to be missing some of the previously available information. As an example, a list I uploaded this morning only had 1 contact. This contact has previously unsubscribed so it was not added to the list. However, the import status notification at the top of the screen did not indicate anything about unsubscribed contacts. The message simply said "1 contact has been updated" in a bright green banner. This confused me initially due to the list appearing blank but no message indicating unsubscribed contacts. I believe this banner used to be amber if the uploaded list contained unsubscribed contacts. I had to search the All Contacts directory to confirm that they weren't added due to that reason.

This post serves to inquire whether this change is intentional, and if so if there are plans to re-add those additional informational messages.

Hello @user87302 ,

From my understanding, yes this change was intentional- as there are now two different subscription systems running tangentially- one for email contacts, and the other for SMS contacts. In order to make SMS-only (no email required) contacts work in the system, other changes also had to be made to how the import system works, how contacts are displayed in lists, permissions settings, etc.

For example, you'll see that unsubscribed contacts will remain in lists, even after unsubscribing. Unsubscribed contacts are still considered inactive and can't be sent to, nor will they count toward billing. This also has the added benefit of maintaining the original list(s) the unsubbed contact was on, in the situation they accidentally unsubbed and need to be resubbed.

The Import/Export Activity page will still provide unsubscribed notifications and exportability, import success, as well as both import failure data and ability to either correct or ignore.
