Instagram + AI has lead an overhaul of how Instagram "ranks" both content and users. This means that hashtags that were originally critical are now only a piece of the puzzle. Instead, Insta is looking at the written word descriptions in the captions of your posts and reels and your location tagging to make suggestions to Instagram users about you and your business. This is in addition to the algorithm tracking and subsequently feeding users more of what they are enjoying. So the key for business owners is to start thinking of Instagram more in the way of SEO best practices: Title, thorough description (lots of words is NOT bad it's now GOOD), location tagging.Â
