Hi DonaldF3158,

If you're having trouble pasting text from Microsoft Word into a Constant Contact campaign, it’s usually because of hidden formatting code that Word carries over.

1. Use the "Paste as Plain Text" Shortcut

The most common fix is to bypass Word's formatting entirely. Instead of using the standard paste command, use these shortcuts:

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + V

  • Mac: Press Option + Shift + Command + V

2. Strip Formatting Using a Text Editor

If the keyboard shortcut doesn't work, you can manually "clean" the text:

  1. Copy your text from Word.

  2. Open a plain-text program like Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac—make sure it’s in "Plain Text" mode).

  3. Paste the text there first, then copy it again from the plain-text program.

  4. Paste it into your Constant Contact email block.

3. Clear Formatting Within the Editor

If you've managed to get the text into the block but it looks strange or won't save correctly:

  1. Highlight the problematic text.

  2. Click the Clear Formatting icon (looks like a letter with an "x" or an eraser) in the text toolbar.

  3. Re-apply your bolding or links directly within the Constant Contact editor.

4. Check Your Browser

Sometimes browser extensions (like ad-blockers or grammar checkers) or a full cache can interfere with the paste function:

  • Try an Incognito/Private window: If it works there, a browser extension is likely the culprit.

  • Clear your cache: A cluttered browser cache can cause the editor to lag or fail to process paste commands.
