Instagram captions

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone in the community can help clarify an issue I’m experiencing with Instagram post scheduling in Constant Contact.

When I schedule a post for Instagram, the caption formatting does not carry over properly. Line breaks and spacing that appear correctly in the editor are removed once published, and the copy shows up as one large, clunky block of text without paragraph breaks.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any insight into what might be causing this would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

This appears to be a known issue that our devs are collecting info on and tracking. At this time, there isn't a fix available, and the workarounds boil down to either:

  • Posting directly on Instagram: This defeats the purpose of the social posting tool, but if the line breaks are important enough, then this is the simplest workaround.

  • Editing the post on Instagram after posting: While this is an extra step, it ensures you still get metrics from the social posting tool and lets you make the caption how you want.

  • Making the caption work as just a paragraph: Making the caption shorter and working as a singular paragraph, hashtags included.

Obviously, these aren't ideal workarounds, but in the meantime, they are what's being recommended while the issue persists. Once we have an update regarding this issue, we'll update the thread accordingly.
