Multiple lists and tags?

When adding multiple email addresses- some new and some that may already be entered- do the new lists and tags remove the previous lists and tags from the contacts or are the contacts now in multiple lists with multiple tags?

Re-importing contacts doesn't overwrite list membership or tags, it'll simply add those contacts to the specified elements. If you're needing to remove contacts from lists or tags, that action can be done within the Contacts dashboard:
