Trying to understand why all many of my recent emails to people with Gmail keep ending up in"Promotions" instead of general mailbox. Any suggestions?
my recent emails keep ending up in "promotions" in Gmail addresses.
Hi BillD32,
Gmail uses a complex algorithm to categorize emails. Campaigns often get placed in the "Promotions" tab because they:
Include marketing keywords or promotional language.
Contain lots of images, buttons, or styled HTML.
Have tracking links or promotional content.
Suggestions:
Simplify Your Design: Use a clean, minimal format—fewer images, no videos or GIFs, and limited use of buttons.
Personalize Content: Use the recipient’s name, tailor subject lines, and avoid overly "salesy" language.
Ask Contacts to Whitelist You: Encourage subscribers to move your emails to the Primary tab and add your email to their contacts.
Send Plain-Text or Low-HTML Versions: These appear more like personal messages, which Gmail is more likely to consider Primary.
Avoid Excessive Links: Too many links or tracking parameters can trigger Promotions filtering.
Test Your Emails: Send tests to Gmail addresses and observe where they land, tweaking content and formatting as needed.
