setting permissions for squarespace contacts

I have people signing up for our newsletter through our website (squarespace), but there are listed as "no permission set", and therefore do not get our emails. Previously it was easy to edit these contacts and change it to "we have permission to send correspondence" (or something like that), but I can't figure out how to do that currently. Anyone have any insights?

This happens because Squarespace updated its email permissions flow. Go to Email Campaigns → Audience → Contacts, select the contact, and click Edit → Update Consent Status to mark them as ‘Subscribed.’ If that option isn’t visible, send them a resubscribe link from the contact’s profile — that’s now the compliant way to regain send permission.
