I am frustrated trying to create a sub list from a main list. I have tags labeled Monday students but am unable to recreate a new list of select names for Monday students

Can you elaborate where in the process of making a list from that tag you're running into issues? If you're needing to isolate contacts that are both tagged like that and only in a particular list, you can use segmentation to generate that. That segmentation can then be made into a list, or sent to directly.
