Updating Contacts

I write a newsletter for a chapter in a large non-profit. I update the contacts monthly for the chapter from the national's records. Recently, the chapter contacted members without email addresses on file for their information. Several were willing to give the chapter their email, but asked that the email address not be shared with the national organization.

If I update next month from the national records, will the blank email address overwrite the email address that I have manually entered into Constant Contact?

Basically, is the Constant Contact match for records on the first and last name or the email address?

Hello L022817 ,

Email address and/or SMS number are what determine a unique contact. If you upload contacts without either of these two fields, they will count as blank contacts, and no info will be updated. You'll likely receive a report during the upload that some contacts couldn't be uploaded, due to the lack of required contact info.

If you don't want the contacts' emails in your account, then they must be deleted.
