We're moving over to Constant Contact from another service - how to import Unsubscribes?

We imported our mailing list of subscribers, but now need to bring in the 'unsubscribes' before sending out our first email newsletter.

I thought of importing them and tagging them with an unsubscribe tag, but not sure that will accomplish what we need to do?
