Best Newsletter Templates for Business Owners: Canva vs. Constant Contact

As business owners, staying in touch with clients is part of the job. A newsletter is one of the best ways to do that. Whether you send one monthly or quarterly, give clients a state of the business or a plain thank you. The best way to make that a habit is to have a template.

I run my own digital marketing agency, and here's my template journey.

Where I started: Canva

When I first had to put together newsletters for myself and my clients, I found Canva and fell in love with it for creating images for social posts. Then I found out they had newsletter templates too, and that was it for me.

Canva has a free account, so you can go in and search "newsletter template." You'll get a range of options, and you can narrow it down. Say I want something modern, I add "modern" to the search and the results get more specific. Once I find one I like, I click on it and start customizing it with my own brand.

Where I ended up: Constant Contact

Canva integrates with Constant Contact. Anything I design in Canva, I can load up as images into Constant Contact, which is the second tool I want to talk about.

Inside Constant Contact, I go to templates and search the same way, this time typing "newsletter." It pulls up several templates that are already vetted. I pick one, and because my brand information is already loaded in Constant Contact, it applies my colors and logo for me automatically.

The part I like best about staying inside Constant Contact is that I'm already in my email provider. I can go straight from picking the template to writing the email and choosing who to send it to. And I can save that template so every newsletter after that looks the same, without rebuilding it each time.

Pick one

Those are my two favorites for newsletter templates. Canva if you want more design control and you're already using it for other brand assets. Constant Contact if you want to build and send from one place. Either way, you can't go wrong.
