We’ve heard you: you want the power of custom coding combined with the "set it and forget it" magic of Automation. Well, the wait is over. In the latest update to our Automation Path Builder, you can now build and add Custom HTML emails directly into your sequences.
How to Build with Code
When you add an email action to a path, you’ll see the standard prompt to create a new email. Now, alongside our template library, you’ll see the option to "Build with HTML." This opens up the Custom Code Editor right inside the builder, giving you total control over the raw source code. It’s perfect for:
Precise brand alignment that goes beyond standard blocks.
Importing complex layouts designed in external tools.
Advanced personalization using deep-coded tags.
A Few "Code-Pro" Reminders
Before you hit "Activate" on that new path, remember that custom HTML comes with a little extra responsibility:
Host Your Own Images: Unlike our Drag-and-Drop editor, you’ll need to make sure your images are hosted on a public server and linked via absolute URLs (e.g.,
https://yourwebsite.com/image.jpg).Keep Your CSS In-Line: To ensure your masterpiece looks great in every inbox (looking at you, Outlook!), we recommend inlining your CSS rather than using style blocks in the header.
Test, Test, Test: Use the "Send a Test" feature within the editor to see how your code renders on mobile versus desktop before it starts hitting your customers' inboxes.
Why This Matters
Adding custom HTML to your Email Marketing automation means your brand’s voice and vision don't have to be "simplified" just because they’re being automated. Whether it’s a high-end welcome series or a sleek transactional follow-up, you now have the tools to make it perfect.
