Explore improved payment options for Events

We recently rolled out expanded checkout flexibility for your events! With the latest updates to our Stripe and PayPal integrations, your registrants have more ways to pay than ever before. Since I clearly love the word "options," let’s break down exactly what your audience will see at checkout in 2026.

The Power Players: Stripe vs. PayPal

While you can use both processors, each offers a unique set of "sub-options" to make the registration process frictionless for your attendees.

Stripe

Stripe is the go-to for a sleek, integrated credit card experience. In 2026, it now supports:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: Standard Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc.

  • Digital Wallets: Full support for Apple Pay and Google Pay.

  • Stripe Link: Saves customer info for 1-click checkouts on future events.

PayPal

PayPal remains a favorite for its trusted brand and flexible "buy now, pay later" features:

  • PayPal Balance: Direct payments from their account.

  • Venmo: A massive hit for mobile users and younger demographics.

  • Pay Later: Allows registrants to pay in installments (PayPal determines eligibility).

  • Guest Checkout: Enables users to pay via credit card without needing a PayPal account.

Let’s Talk Numbers: 2026 Fees

It’s important to factor in transaction costs when pricing your tickets. Both processors charge a fee, and Constant Contact collects a platform fee for managing the infrastructure.

Provider

Processor Fee

Constant Contact Fee

Total Estimated Fee

Stripe

2.9% + $0.30

2.9%

5.8% + $0.30

PayPal

3.49% + $0.49

2.9%

6.39% + $0.49

Note: If your event is free, no fees apply—regardless of whether you have a processor linked! You also have the option (there's that word again!) to either absorb these fees or pass them on to your registrants during the setup process.

Pro-Tips for a Smooth Launch

  1. Use a Business Account: For the best experience, especially with PayPal, we highly recommend using a Business Account to unlock Guest Checkout and Venmo.

  2. Sync Your Contacts: Once you connect Stripe, you can automatically sync your customers into segmented lists for follow-up marketing.

  3. The "Check" Workaround: If you need to accept offline payments like checks, create a free ticket type labeled "Pay by Check" to allow them to register without a credit card.
