The 80/20 Rule

If your marketing looks and feels like you're constantly selling, you risk losing your audience.

People don't open their inbox to buy something.

They want to learn something.

One of the most effective principles in email marketing is the 80/20 Rule.

The idea is simple: about 80% of your emails should be educational, informative, or entertaining, while only 20% should directly promote your products or services.

Why does this work?

Because people don't subscribe to be sold to every day.

They subscribe because they want value.

When you consistently share helpful tips, insights, answers to common questions, and useful resources, you build trust and credibility with your audience.

Then, when it's time to make an offer, your subscribers are much more likely to pay attention and take action.

Think of each educational email as a deposit into your relationship bank account.

The more value you provide, the more permission you earn to ask for the sale.

Give first.

Sell second.

That's the power of the 80/20 Rule.
